There’s a vote TODAY in the Senate:

The US Senate will be voting on two different proposals for the federal budget,

The Senate will vote on the House and Senate versions of the Budget bill. Both include the bad wolf delisting riders.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is expected to bring both the House H.R.1 bill and a separate Senate option to the floor for a vote on Tuesday.

“On Tuesday, March 8 the Senate votes on both measures. Neither is likely to pass. It is expected that politicians on both sides of the aisle will go back and discuss greater compromises, since the only alternative, if they cannot agree, would be a government shutdown.”

I’ve made many phones calls to Senators over the last few weeks, some say they support the ESA and wolves but not one has committed to introducing an amendment to rid the budget bill of 1709.

We need a white knight? Where are the friends of wolves and the ESA? This is a Democratic controlled Senate, yet a Democrat, Jon Tester introduced 1709 into the budget bill.

What will happen? Is there a Senator who will step forward in defense of wolves and the ESA today?

Pray for wolves in the Northern Rockies!! Please continue to contact Senators. Don’t beat around the bush. Tell them you want a commitment from them to champion an amendment that would remove the bad wolf delisting riders.

Help Halt Wolf Extermination Attempt in Congress

The anti-wolf rider now attached to the budget bill would represent the first time that Congress has dictated which species receive protection and which do not — a decision that the Endangered Species Act says must be made solely on the best available science. The delisting of wolves in the northern Rocky Mountains did not pass scientific muster, and the Center and our allies were repeatedly successful in proving that in court.

In anticipation of wolf delisting, state legislators in Idaho are circulating drafts of legislation removing any state protections on wolves and imposing a $500 bounty for each dead wolf.

I have sent an e-mail straight to my Senator but I am going to call him. I posted the e-mail you sent as a bulletin and as a blog on http://www.myboomerplace.com so that others may see it as well and hopefully they will call. The wolf is important to me. The government needs to figure out what’s more important, our wildlife or paying the rich. The debt is their fault not the wolf or the other wild life.

I just called Senator Mitch McConnell and left a message. Glad I finally got through. I have loved the wolf ever since I was a child. They have always had my heart. We don’t have wolves in Ky unless people sneak them in. I will fight till the grave for them cause it is my dream to hear the wolf song. I want my niece to hear it too. We can’t let it disappear.
