UPTDATE: APRIL 11, 2011
The NRDC sent out an alert saying the Congressional leaders allowed Tester and Simpson to add the wolf delisting language back into the budget bill on Friday and it was OK’d by the White House.
Wolves have been betrayed for political expediency. We cannot let this stand Warriors!!We have to hammer the Capital Switchboard phone lines.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO CALL, FAX AND EMAIL SENATORS. DO NOT GIVE UP. WE CAN WIN THIS FOR WOLVES.
I added talking points to the body of this post for you to use, they were written by william h.

It’s crunch time Wolf Warriors. This is the week we have to make a difference for wolves. The current budget bill, contains the Tester wolf delisting rider and we have just a few short days to turn this around.
Budget bill pending before Congress would remove wolves from endangered list
BILLINGS, Mont. — Gray wolves in Montana and Idaho would be taken off the endangered list under the budget bill pending before Congress, two Western lawmakers said.
Inclusion of the language to lift protections for wolves was confirmed by the offices of Montana Democratic Sen. Jon Tester and Idaho Republican Rep. Mike Simpson on Saturday.
PLEASE continue to call and email the Senate and do not stop until we find a white knight who is willing to stand for wolves and introduce an amendment that will strip this nightmare out of the bill.
I know I’ve called upon you many times but this is truly the worst situation wolves in Montana and Idaho have been in. If the budget bill passes, with the delisting language intact, Montana and Idaho wolves will be at the mercy of brutal state management. They will lose all rights to judicial review. In other words, they will be doomed in the Northern Rockies.
Once again, here are the phone numbers and contact info for the Senate. Please call not only your own Senators but every Senate Democrat as many times as you can. Thank you.
We can win this. We are mighty when we unite, never forget that!!

Be polite but express your outrage over the game of chess Congress is playing with wolves’ lives. The delisting language must be stripped out of the final bill.

Talking Points
(contributed by william h. Thanks!!)
•Be polite and direct with the person you are talking to! Focus on a few key issues:
•ESA never been amended before
•Dangerous precedent for all wildlife ie Grizzlies or Lynx next to be targeted
•Political undermining of legislation through riders which is inappropriate on Budget bill and the fact these riders would never pass through the regular democratic channels
•Toxic political climate for wolves in Idaho and Montana, site the wolf disaster declaration and the Phil Hart legislation of no wolf prosecution for law breakers
•And finally the outrageous no further judicial review language!!

ALL SENATORS:
His Last Howl
Codi Rogers / Brownsville TX
The last howl
That sounded
Was from the wolf’s heart
Forever to echo
In his pack’s ears
Forever to remind
In their hearts
For a heartless hunter
Rose his gun that day
And his victim was
This wolf his pack
Sings about everyday
The man took his body away
The pack howls
As one
In sorrow
In pain
They shall forever
Remember the wolf
That fell that
One fateful winter day.

With a Spending Deal in Hand, Lawmakers Now Turn to the Details
By Robert Pear
Published: April 10, 2011
WASHINGTON — As more details of the budget deal between President Obama and Congressional leaders trickled out on Sunday, lobbyists and lawmakers stepped up their efforts to secure or kill specific provisions benefiting wolf hunters in Montana, profit-making colleges and various public works projects.
