Running With Wolves

Gudrun Pflueger, an Austrian wolf biologist, made the documentary “A Woman Among Wolves” over three years ago.  It follows her journey on the British Columbia coast, tracking a pack of coastal wolves. Click this link to watch the full episode.

I was so moved by her interaction with the wolves. Then, soon after making the  film, Gudrun was struck down by a malignant brain tumor and spent the next three years trying to beat it.

She states she was inspired by her experience with the coastal wolves, tapping into their “legendary stamina”, to battle the disease.

Now she has beaten cancer and made another documentary about Canada’s wolves called “Running With Wolves”.  It’s good to see Gudrun alive and well.  If you haven’t seen this amazing film you still have a chance.  I posted the Direct TV schedule below.  HOWLS!!

    • Agnes I had no idea videos would be blocked. It’s a video of little moose babies and their mother in someone’s backyard, with the moose calves running through the sprinker like little kids like to do. It’s truly heart melting. I’m sorry you couldn’t view it.

  4. What a beautiful post Nabeki! What an incredible woman, and how beautiful that as she was lying on a hospital bed fighting for her life, it was the wolf, through their grace, beauty and strength was her way of fighting back the disease. Too bad all the people who so misunderstand these magnificent creatures can see it.

    • Hi SoCalWolfGal……glad you liked the post. I watched the first documentary several years ago and was so moved by her interaction with the wolf pack. They completely accepted her and were so relaxed around her.

As you stated she drew her strength from the wolves to battle a very aggressive cancer. I understand her passion and love for these animals. She’s an amazing person.

  7. Just saw the Wolves segment on Oasis TV. Great shots and very interesting. Living in a rural area of BC we are also in contact with wildlife, most of it curious, all of it respectful towards us as tenants on this land. If only it worked the other way around.Best wishes to Gudrun for continued good health.
