10 Wolf Pups Slaughtered In Wyoming By Wildlife Services….SHAME ON THEM!!

June 30, 2012

Wyoming is killing wolf pups right along with their parents. Ten pups have been killed  so far, sixteen wolves in all. One alpha pair, (mother and father wolves), were wiped out along with their six pups for the death of  just ONE LAMB at Dempsey Creek. Now another wolf pack of eight, including their pups have been slaughtered in Cody, Wyoming by the Wildlife Services goons, on the orders of USFWS.  The death toll stands at sixteen dead wolves….ten pups, six adults.

Ed Bangs is in charge, he is the Western gray wolf recovery coordinator, (that’s a laugh, wolf recovery). Wolves are still listed as endangered in Wyoming but they might as well have zero protection because the USFWS is carrying out a shadow wolf hunt in Wyoming.  How extremely brutal and misguided. What type of people kill puppies? If these poor animals weren’t wolf pups but say domestic dog  pups, the people  responsible for their slaughter would be in jail for animal cruelty. But because it’s the federal government USFWS, they can order our native carnivores killed, their pups slaughtered and get away with it.

Did they beat the pups over the head, did they shoot them, did they drown them, did they bury them alive?  How do you kill two month old puppies? Did they kill them in front of their parents or did their parents have to watch in horror as their babies were brutally murdered?

This is a two month old wolfdog puppy. The wolf pups killed were about this age.

Is the USFWS working for the ranchers in Wyoming? Why aren’t these ranchers using pro-active measures, which means sound animal husbandry practices to deter predation?  The answer is simple, they don’t have to. All they have to do is pick up the phone and call USFWS and have them unleash the Wildlife Services death squad  to kill wolves for them.

It’s apparent USFWS is not going to require ranchers to use any precautionary measures. They’re just going to kill wolves, that’s their plan, with no regard to the damage they do to wolves. It’s all about cattle and sheep. These people should not be managing wolves when all they seem to care about is the livestock industry.  I wouldn’t trust them to water my plants let alone manage wolves.

Quote From the Jackson Hole News and Guide:

“Solutions proposed by conservation groups, such as using flagging and guard dogs to scare wolves, won’t work in some open-range situations, Jimenez said. Killing wolves is the only solution, he said.”

So there you have it. They are just going to kill wolves. Great management plan. Nice job USFWS.

EIGHT WOLVES, INCLUDING TWO ADULTS AND SIX PUPS WERE KILLED FOR ONE LAMB.  SIXTEEN WOLVES ARE DEAD, TWO ENTIRE  WOLF PACKS, TEN  PUPS SLAUGHTERED.

We have to stand up to this cold-blooded killing. Please write to the USFWS to express your outrage over the killing of entire wolf families for agribusiness. Write to the governor of Wyoming.

Apparently USFWS is flexing their muscles in Wyoming, letting everyone know that even if wolves are relisted by Judge Molloy, USFWS will continue its war on wolves.

Do not buy any products from Wyoming businesses that support the jihad against wolves. This has to stop. These are your tax dollars people  being used to kill PUPPIES!! SPEAK OUT!!  THE WORST WE CAN DO IS NOTHING!!

STAND UP FOR WOLVES.!!!!!!

      • First of all Cowgirl, if you did your homework you’d know wolves kill very few livestock. As of 2007 there were over two million cows in Montana and wolves killed just 97 in 2009, miniscule numbers. BUT in response, Wildlife Services killed 135 wolves and 10 wolves were killed by private citizens with permits. So stop the sob story, it won’t play here.

In 2005, ranchers lost more livestock to vultures then wolves. Coyotes and domestic dogs are the two biggest killers of calves but even coyotes are just a blip concerning cattle losses. The biggest losses come from weather, disease, reproductive issues and theft. 10,500 calves were lost to winter storms in one year.

People on this blog are very well informed and can smell horse manure a mile away.

Nice going on grandad killing pups with an axe as a child? I hope you made that up because if not, it’s down right sick.

And to your little speech “maybe drift back into time a little to the days when a lamb could mean wheather or not your children ate supper that night” We don’t live in the wildwest no more Cowgirl21 so wake up and why don’t you drift a little up in time huh? if i were you i’d be ashamed to even be alive, i don’t expect someone with zero emotion to care tho. 20. They are evil, how could anyone kill a Wolf? People have been telling lies about Wolves since the beginning of time, lies about them being vicious, man-eating creatures. If it weren’t for Wolves, Dogs wouldn’t be with us today! Humans make me so angry, I wish there were a law against killing these beautiful, gentle creatures.

People say that its okay to kill Wolves to keep the population down, but it is still terribly wrong. The world did fine without us, why can’t we just live in harmony with Wolves?

Grizzlies, cougars , bobcats, eagles, coyotes, and wolves are seen as a threat to their way of life and should be poisoned and trapped with our taxpayer dollars! They expect it now! As WWP has demonstrated- times are changing!! Get them the FU%$^& off our public land!!!!

  23. If I could go, I would be there in a flash. I have my facts, and I have my beliefs.. And one of them would be, no animal in the world, should be killed, for the sake of “HUMANS”, domesticating the animals food source[In addition to taking their land, their home.] I believe that sheep, and deer are in some ways quite similar… Both walk on four legs, both eat greens, both live in herds, and they even might have similar scents. People just don’t care, all they care about is “MONEY” their greedy, selfish, and fast to judge. IF you have wolves, tormenting your live stock, than find a humane, and harmless way to keep them away… Think Will You? .. Put up large fences, to keep your live stock in, and them out.. Put up motion detectors, to send off a noise to scare them away… It’s wrong to just KILL them.. the farmers’, and ranchers’ should think twice.. killing them is just as bad as them killing your live stock.. They have families to, they have a live to live.. they have dreams they want to fulfill. Killing a wolf, is to me like going to someone’s house, and killing their family pet… “ALL” dogs are descendents of wolves.. So, in other words your killing “Man’s Best Friend.” YOU Are killing the seed who gave birth to the dog. Who now comfort the elders, who put fun into a child’s life.. they even; help blind, death, and crippled people. It’s just wrong, and humans need to wake up and figure it out, before the Animal Kingdom, take their own drastic measures’.

Wolves are one of the most social animals on earth yet do you ever hear any of the so called “wolf managers’ mention anything about killing wolf families and puppies? No, nadda, zip. Their attitude is wolves will make more wolves if we kill lots of them. What kind of scientists are these people? Where the heck did they go to school? It’s absolutely mind blowing to me that not one study was done on the effects the hunts of 2009/2010 and killings by WS had on wolf families. The people that “manage”them apparently don’t care.

One day these neanderthals will be extinct, it’s going to take generations I think to change attitudes but it will happen. In the meantime we have to keep up the good fight for wolves.

Even if they did kill *ahem* ONE lamb, why kill two whole packs, even the little pups that could never have hurt anything at that point in their lives? And besides, it’s not their fault they’re forced to hunt on “our” land. Humans have been taking land from all manner of animals since the beginning of our existence, something we have abosutely no right to do. They hunt on “our” land because they haven’t enough land to themselves to hunt on. I’m very glad I found this sight and must thank you for creating it, as now that I know the problem is this bad I now know something I can help with.

I lived in Montana for a while back, my neighbor had some sheep that would free range onto my property, he had no fences, he just let them roam, when a pack of wolves came onto my property and took down one of the larger Ewes he called USFWS. They came onto MY property and started looking for them and I put a bullet in the tree over their heads, told them to ‘get off my [censored] land or I will shoot to kill.’ My parents weren’t too happy, but they knew that the hunters were breaking the law by entering marked private property, thankfully the law still holds in matters of property defense. I told them when they first parked their trucks in my freshly seeded front lawn, that if they continued i would defend my rights as a homeowner to the extent of the law. I lost my property about two years ago, it fell into foreclosure while I was in Iraq, which is funny because my bank recorded the money going out to the Mortgage holder. those wolves were killed and it never even made the news. The sheep was on my land, i needed to seed my lawn because the damned animals tore it up while grazing, but the wolves still paid the price. I love wolves, I spent my childhood out in the middle of nowhere in Alaska with my dad watching them. After my dad died and my mom remarried I ended up in Montana with no wolves to be found. I was angered by what happened then and this really irks me, I’m a veteran, I fought for my country and its rights and freedom, only to have mine taken away. I’m facing charges of assault on a federal agent its been four years since i did that, they waited for my usefulness as a Marine to end, now that the Huntingtons has set in I’m of no use to the military and am left to face the Human wolves…

They were literally digging sheep out of a giant snowdrift next to a barbed wire fence. (It appeared that at least some of the sheep were still alive, fortunately.) It looks as though they got up against the fence and the snow just blew over them and buried them. It makes me wonder why the animals are even out in the pasture in this sort of weather. Why aren’t they in a barn, or at least an enclosure with a windbreak, which would protect them from weather AND predators? If predator-friendly tactics don’t work in open-range operations (and I really don’t buy that), maybe the livestock shouldn’t be out on the open range in the first place.

Sam they don’t practice pro active ranching because they don’t have to. All they have to do is pick up the phone and call Wildlife (Dis)Services to come and kill a wolf or wolves. They blame wolves for everything when wolves kill so few livestock. The whole situation is ridiculous.

I want to make a sign and have an airplane trail it twenty four hours a day saying across the country saying: STOP KILLING AMERICA’S WOLVES!!

These wolves do not belong to the USFWS or the ranchers or the Wildlife Services (Animals Damage Control) exterminators. They are wild animals that deserve to be left alone and live free. Let the friggin ranchers take care of their own investment and stop exaggerating wolf/livestock depredation losses. Which is something we are going to do a press release about very soon. Parents as well as students should discuss this classic by the founder of the environmental ecology movement in America. He explains the interrelationship of species in the wild and specifically discusses the pivotal role of the wolf as apex predator, and the permanent damage man can do to the environment by slaughter or depletion this species.
It looks as if the ranchers are using “Free Range State” status as their excuse not to have guard dogs or electric fenced night corrals for for their cattle. Baloney! These same people are also tormenting wild horses, herding them with helicopters into tiny pens miles from their range and letting them die there. Until your laws are changed to prevent the ranchers (and the guys they pay in Washington DC) from acting like they own hundreds of thousands of acres of land that really belongs to you tax payers, those fat cats will never listen to reason. It is time that the American public comes together to TAKE DOWN Ken Salazar and his cronies in the Departments of Interior and Agriculture; REPLACE all anti-wolf/anti-environment heads of Fish and Game/Wildlife state-by-state, and MAKE ALL RANCHERS (cattle, lamb, sheep, pig, horse, chicken, etc.) PAY EQUALLY FOR LAND USE that is both compensatory for loss of wildlife and conservation of public property, as well as hold them ACCOUNTABLE for damages and losses of these. For every blade of lost grass, I want three! For every dead prairie dog, I want five, and for every lost wolf, I want a healthy pack of 10! This is a movement desperately looking for a leader. 74. ok, so I just had a super super long conversation with the wildlife service guy in Wyoming and he said this incident happened 2 years ago. and went on to say that the deal for bringing wolves into the area was that if they killed life stock they’d be killed. I naturally don’t agree with killing any wolves, period. but is this correct? that this is an old story?

    • Marianne…Yes, this happened in 2010. I posted this story on June 30, 2010, the date is at the bottom of the post but it doesn’t make any difference when it happened. There is “tit for tat management” going on in Wyoming that persecutes wolves for MINIMAL LIVESTOCK DEPREDATIONS.

Lets look at the figures for the year this happened. Wolves were responsible for just 26 cattle deaths but Wyoming Wildlife Services killed 40 wolves in response. BUT Wyoming ranchers lost 37,100 cows to NON-PREDATION. Of course you won’t hear about that. 26 cows is not going to put anyone out of business and much of the cattle is on public land, where they practice the Columbus method of cattle ranching. Turn the cows out in the Spring and discover them in the Fall. No preventative measures taken to protect their cattle or sheep. Why should they when they can just pick up the phone and call Wildlife Services and have them kill wolves? It’s a bad situation and they’ve openly admitted they are just going to kill wolves to “protect” the livestock industry. Well the livestock industry doesn’t need to be protected against 26 cattle losses by wolves. That is why WildEarth Guardians is suing Wildlife Services, hopefully to get rid of this horrible agency that kills millions of our wildlife every year.

“The livestock industry is the last wildlife-genocide program in the United States,” says Bruce Apple, the director of an Oregon-based environmental organization appropriately called Rest the West. “All-out war is declared on a diversity of species every day to benefit a single industry.”

There is NO REASON ON THIS EARTH to kill puppies for a few cattle losses when Wyoming ranchers are losing thousands and thousands of cattle to non-predation. You should call that person back and ask them why they killed 40 wolves (including puppies) for 33 cattle and 26 sheep losses but didn’t say a word about the 37,100 cows that died that year to:

      Digestive problems
      Respiratory problems
      Metabolic problems
      Mastitis
      Lameness/injury
      Other diseases
      Weather related
      Calving problems
      Poisoning
      Theft
      Other non-predator
      Unknown non-predator
      Total non-predator

They won’t have a good answer because there isn’t one. Wildlife Services does the killing for the USFWS in Wyoming and WS needs to be de-funded or eliminated altogether.

  75. that is just sick and wrong and should never happen. wolves are the wonders that fill the night sky with song. wolves should never be killed. only if it is a life or death situation but never wolf pups. if they kill all the wolf pups and their parents there will never again be the beautiful howling of these mystical powerful creatures for they will all die. it must be stopped. take some time and look up wolves howls and listen to their song it will touch your heart.

  79. Cowgirl, you’re in the wrong century…
We’re not in the 1800’s anymore.
We’re not gonna fall in line and conform
to a load of primitive redneck dogma.
It’s time we make the 21st Century look
a little more like the 23rd Century and not revert
    back to the barbaric 19th…
The vast majority of folks from every continent
and island on this planet, want our wolves left alone
to live in peace, as our Creator intended it to be in
the first place, not slaughtered in cold blood!
And for you to tell us that we’re “full of it”, is blasphemy!
What gives you the right to go against God’s will???
Last year, I wrote a new psychedelic rock number
called, “OUR WOLVES” and my lyrics says it all…

  81. Very sad day when the wolf was delisted from the endangered list, This was a huge mistake anyway you look at it. The local DNR made money selling permits to shoot & trap these animals, Livestock owners were paid for any loss of livestock and yet the wolves pay the price with their lives even living on goverment owned land. If we humans lived just a little like a wolf pack what a different world this would be, We could learn alot from wolves if we just took the time.
The slaughter of these wolves needs to stop !!!!!!!!!!

  82. This makes me so sick. I really hate this country. Does anyone know if Uruguay is a good country to move to? Lol (I know this isn’t a good time to joke around but I’m trying to look on the bright side of things) I love wolves and my sister even more than me if she heard about this she would commit suicide, I am serious. I just lost one of my baby lambs and I was sad for a day but I got over it, they need to suck it up and realize that wolves are endangered and always will be because of this sick country and all of the horrible people in it. It is extremely tradgic for all of these amazing, wonderful, gifted people who are trying to help these poor creatures. There are only about 9,000 wolves left in the United States and that is just sad.

Take a tiger for example, there are thousands less left of them than wolves but they have poachers. Wolves on the other hand are BEING DESTROYED BY THE GOVERNMENT!!! It really sucks… plus add the fact that their habitats are also being destroyed.

Please don’t make the make wolf’s rain a reality, help to stop this insane problem that we have. STAND UP FOR THE WOLVES. (This is gonna sound really lame but…) power to the howls 🙂

  83. Hmm….

Sorry guys, but ‘normal people’ would say, “Oh, it’s only a few animals. Big deal.”

I would call those ‘normal people’ retarded people; and I can say that, cuz I am.

Now I’m just paraphrasing here, but, IT STATES IN THE CONSTITUTION that man was created equal, and had 3 inalienable right.
The rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

THE FREAKING FIRS ONE IS LIFE, right?

Later they changed it so ALL MEN AND WOMEN were included.

The constitution needs to be changed again…

      • Thank you very much Carson 😀 I was on youtube watching a wolf video and saw the top comment was of someone saying they were watching a very similar video. They said someone put a comment saying wolves were stupid unwanted animals that should all die. The person looked at their channel and it was all videos about teaching people to kill animals and use traps. SICK
😡 I posted a comment saying if you pause at some time it looks identical to my greyhound and if she felt like it should could kill or hurt me and most likely a wolf wouldn’t if a dog wouldn’t.

  86. I am so sick of all this sensless killing of wolves, how would they like it if we started trapping humans on their hunts and beating them with clubs and their cries for help left unanswered. I have a wolfdog as a companion and I call him my son, everytime I hear of another innocent wolf being slaughtered it saddens me and makes my blood boil because I feel like someone is killing my family. One sheep because they were hungry, put these people in the woods with no weapons and let them fend for themselves, when hunger sets in your instinct is to survive and that’s all these wolves are trying to do and they are slaughtered, tortured, and ridiculed for it….I’m sick of it.

  88. My fellow wolf warriors our efforts of signing petitions and writing letters to uncaring unsympathetic politicians and higher ups seems to be getting us nowhere. What will it take for us to open our eyes and realize that our cries for these beautiful majestic creatures are not being realized, these politicians and anti wolf groups have money and favor with these sorry excuses for human beings and will do nothing in our favor as long as they can carry on their normal emotionless existence. When do we get to a point to where we realize that these terrible people only understand one thing and one language and that is cruelty and unsympathetic malevolentce. Do we love and cherish these creatures beyond recognition and unselfishly. Then why is it so hard to stand up for them unselfishly and without regret no matter the outcome,in this world there are talkers and their are doers and I am sick and tired of watching my fellow furry brothern suffer with their lives and we won’t put ours on the line for the ones we care so much about,if they were dogs these people would be put in jail and given the fullest extent of the law for animals being cruelly being treated, well let me ask you this where did all of your dogs come from….the wolf….fight for them show them that their lives are not taken in vain….where will you stand. On the top of the mountain letting all of them hear your howl,or in the valley waiting out the enabidable genocide….you choose warriors

  89. Everyone who respects wolves are the true people. People who kill wolves are only thinking about there life and not anyone else’s. Hell the wolves could go extinct and they won’t give a sh*t. Wolves have been my favorite animal while growing up and they still are. Hearing these stories breaks my heart but no matter how much we try to save them the only way they will stop for a short time is with a lot of money. Today money is about everything and nothing else. Really if it wasn’t for money we would be trading food and clothes for other things. I think that some people need to pull there head out of there a** and look around. These are living creatures that are only trying to survive like us. Without them the whole food chain will get f*cked up once again. They help remove the sick and the injured animals. Also on another note cowgirl I have no f*cking idea what you were thinking but this is a website to save wolves and not to tell stories about you grandfather killing them. Go tell your sh*t to someone who cares for we care about the wolves and not getting them killed. Just think if all dogs were to go extinct the only creatures that could bring them back is the wolves so the little pups you had or dogs gone and had no other way of coming back ever again because you were too stubborn to see that wolves are a huge help in this system of life. LONG LIVE THE WOLVES!

I own a wolf hybrid pup close to that age she is 85% timber wolf I don’t know how someone could just kill a puppy all they were doing was what comes so naturally to a predator of any kind; find food, catch food, eat food. They should have relocated the packs to a safe location but they wanted a power trip throwing their weight around acting like they are big and bad bc they get to carry a gun and kill something well I was in the army and went to Afghanistan I carried a gun and having to kill anything whether it be human or animal doesn’t make u big and bad at least in war it’s kill or be killed and it still haunts me. they killed defenceless puppies I hope it haunts them till the day they die

  91. And perhaps, for every wolf killed, somehow 10 sheep, cows or whatever they were killed for should be shot in return somehow. I presume the ranchers would take a more proactive stance towards their flocks then.
