ACTION ALERT: SPEAK UP FOR WOLVES!!

As you read in my previous posts, both Montana and Idaho are petitioning the Department of the Interior Secretary, Ken Salazar, to allow them to conduct wolf hunts, THIS YEAR.

Less than two months ago wolves won a major victory in court when Judge Molloy returned their ESA protections. Now Montana and Idaho are trying to circumvent the ESA by having “conservation hunts” or hunts for “prey declines”. We cannot allow this to happen. Please speak out for wolves:

TAKE ACTION:

What part of NO don’t they understand? Wolves are a protected species. These people will stop at nothing to kill wolves.

Please call Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, President Obama and the USFWS Director. Tell everyone you know to call!!

President Obama: 202-456-1414

Ken Salazar, Head of the Interior: 202-208-3181

USFWS Director: 202-208-4717

Tell them no wolf hunts in Idaho or Montana! Gray wolves are protected under the ESA, this is egregious!

Let them know the American people support wolves and don’t want then slaughtered for the hunting and ranching lobbies.

For the wolves, For the wild ones,

Nabeki

  1. Nabeki,

I have just called all three. I got only a voicemail recording at Interior to leave a message; which I did. I spoke to a White House operator to leave a message for President Obama, and I spoke with a person at USFWS who assured me she would deliver the message to the director. I am so angry I am shaking. Will also leave comments on each website. Damn them all.

    • Thank you, thank you SCWG, you are amazing. Can we clone you..lol. I hope everyone is calling. This is our chance to speak out. We need to keep it up until Salazar gets the message. I can’t believe what a mess Obama created. This was all his doing, his Interior Secretary delisted wolves in the first place. To think a Democrat would do that? It’s mind blowing.

      • We have to keep up the pressure. And that means phone calls and emails in my opinion. I was trying to find a link on my Facebook page. One of my horse advocates posted a petition to try and get 5,000 signatures on it for President Obama to fire Salazar. Salazar is such a coward IMHO, you can never speak to a live person at Interior. What does that tell you, that they are being hit hard between the wolves and the wild mustangs. Well, fine then the WH and Wildlife Services provide people to talk to. I remember when I called the WH back in July about the round ups of the wild horses, when I stated why I was calling, you could hear it in the operator’s voice: “another one”. Well, they haven’t seen anything yet!

      • SCWG….I hope people continue to call and raise their voices for wolves. Unfortunately this is an election year and politicians are posturing to their base. But we have to keep the pressure up. The anti-wolf groups have the money and power of the Safari Club, Sportsmen for (Killing)Fish and Wildlife, the Cattlemen’s Assoc, the RMEF and so on. We need to pull together the way they do.

    • You are right Agnes, they have to accept the wolves are protected again as of August 5th. But as Nabeki said they are like two year olds throwing a temper tantrum. They want to do as they please and to hell with the rest of us. Well, it’s not going to work that way.

    • Thank you Rita for being with us too! I think Butch Otter is close to one of the five most despicable people in office. I remember last year when he said he wanted to be the first one to buy a ticket to kill a wolf. What kind of mentality is that? It is just sheer stupidity and arrogance; we’re above the law, if we don’t like the law, then well, hey we are going to go to Washington and demand that we have our way. Because let’s face it; it has worked for them in the past.

  5. This is probably going to get me in trouble but hear me out! I am tired of hearing the hunters and the State agency’s complain about the hunters carrying the brunt of the cost. First…I have firearm. I have ammunition. The tax that I pay on this is sent to Pittman-Robertson Act. Shouldn’t I have some say about wildlife even if I am a non consumptive sportsman?
Second….I am going out on a limb here so go easy on me. I feel that we need to change the way Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks is funded. It should no longer be funded by licenses revenue. It should be funded with general fund dollars. However, This does not mean that the sportsman have total control over what is hunted and the amounts. In direct proportion to the funding given by the general fund to this agency wildlife watchers should have serious input on decisions and commission seats.

One last thing! Its time for Carolyn Sime to hit the road! If you don’t agree with my first thoughts, I am sure you will agree with this thought.

    Like

    • Marc….I agree with everything you said. A paradigm shift is needed in wildlife managament. The current system is stacked against the non-consumptive user. A small group of people are literally killing off our native carnivores and other wildlife to sanitize the landscape for hunters and ranchers. This must change. You are spot on. And yes Sime needs to go but unfortunately there will be someone just like her to take her place.

  6. Marc Cooke. Please bare with me for I am not a very good writer.I personally,do not see anything wrong about the things you are stating.I think you have just of a right to have a say what goes on regardless of the taxes you pay on your guns and ammunition and on top of it all,you pay state and federel taxes. You are right to say waht you feel since you pay towards the Pittman-Robertson,you should have the right. We all should have a right to say what we feel and have a right to say it.Yes.We need to get rid/change the way the park and wildlife services get funded/paid. The hunters always throw that in our faces. We all in the country should be worried on what is going on there in Montana,Idaho, and Utah.Everyones voice should be heard.I am pro-wolf and proud of it but I want all wild life to be able coexist with man.I am tired of the bullies of the world marching in and intimidating everyone. They feel like they are the only ones with problems. They should wake up and smell the coffee, Everyone is in a world of hurt, some by their own desmise and others by no fault of their own. The wolves and the other wild life have to have people like Nabeki, you, and all the others to keep fighting for any piece of land so they can live on and be free. We all should bare the cost and have a say in what goes on ,not just hunters . Bison are hazed so they can stay in the park so they don’t get near the cows and wolves are killed even if they look at a sheep or cow. Bears don’t fair any better.Marc,All I can say is Thank You for fighting.

  9. Okay, here are the links from my contact at Wild Horse Preservation. I haven’t had time to read them. The RS article is long, looks like the Politico one is saying the displeasure if from the Gulf Oil spill and that is why he is out of favor and probably will be gone after the mid term elections. We need to bombard the WH with the fact that it is not just the oil spill and the damage that did. It is our wildlife, wolves and wild mustangs that we are tired of having slaughtered. It will do no good for Obama just to appoint someone else in bed with the ranchers and hunters. I thought no one could be worse than Gale Norton, and how wrong was that?

  10. There is a name from the past. Gale Norton!!! Before I had ever seen Norton I happen to be watching CSpan. (You can stop laughing now) Anyhow this lady is talking about oil and gas. I thought to myself which energy company does she work for? Then it flashed on the screen that she was Secretary of the DOI!! I knew then the game was over. When she depart from that job, DOI was under investigation by DOJ. I wonder who she works for now?

    Like

    • I don’t know who she is working for now, but you can bet her black heart hasn’t changed on whit. It is just me? I don’t think you have to be incredibly intelligent to grasp the fact the DOI doesn’t need to be headed by someone who is a rancher or someone in the pocket of the oil industry. If Obama does take Salazar out, he needs to understand he needs to make a 360 degree turn from the Norton’s and Salazar’s. We have to keep sending the message, over and over again.

    • If I am not mistaken she is an attorney for Big Oil. Surprised? Don’t be. Hopefully Obama will put someone like Grihalva or Bill richardson in Salazars’ post at DOI. We need another Babbitt type in that position.

      • William, what do you say to people like Todd Grimm? What did Todd Grimm say to you? People like Todd Grimm are not helping wildlife. These people who kill wildlife for purposes other than food are twisted in my book and they think what they are doing is considered normal or helping wildlife. They are truly delusional people. Wildlife services should be done with for food.

    • William you so right about the BLM. President Obama needs to be pounded again and again about the fact that it’s not just the Gulf Oil spill and the MMS. It’s wildlife and our eco system that the BLM is destroying.

      • I think WWP is beating BLM up pretty good, which is shedding more light on how these federal agencies become so entrenched in the very interests they should be regulating! Lets face it- the feds from the dept of agriculture to the usfws need a drastic overhaul. There was this slaughterhouse in VT called Bushway Packing- you may have seen the footage- that has consistent violations of animal torture- many with the regulators right in plain sight of the torture who did nothing to help these animals. I spent weeks calling the owner- and I called him a scumbag, and that I wouldn’t rest until he was shut down- his response “Knock yourself out pal” I can see how some of these animal rights groups resort to violence- it makes you so frustrated

  12. Nabeki, I give you my upmost respect for you putting this website together, I also give you my respect, for warning so many others such as myself, of the many hazardous things going on in this horde world.
Also my up most thanks, to all those who have been speaking on these many forms, and have been helping Nabeki, make a larger voice. Nabeki, can’t do this job alone, and I am so happy to see she has created a pack, a pack of witch humans stand together and are breathing the air of war, to the people who destroyed the land on which the “Wolf” use to roam, and who cut down the tress, on which the wolf, use to run in.. and who dried out all the river, in which the wolves, bathed and drank from.
one voice, is nothing capered to those in charge, the larger of the large, “BUT” more than one voice will shake the foundations, of all those who protest against us. Nothing in this world, is worse than killing another living thing, just because they are powerless to the weapons and poisons we use. Every living thing in this world, should have a fair shot at survival… Only, we give them not even a chance to run. Bullets, penetrate their pelts; Poisons, rush through their bodies like slithering snakes; Cold Metal Traps, grasping their paws like a fly trap catching its pray. Blood is than stained, on the snow, grass, sand, dirt, forest floor, or even rock; on where they stand. Pain ripples through their body, like a title wave demolishing everything in its path. Than the last breath, and collapse.. A innocent life taken, only for the sake of “Humans” grater good.
Wolves never asked for this harm, to come to their families and friends. Wolves, are one of the most misunderstood animal on this planet, humans making horrible stories of them. Such as the Little Red Riding Hood, or True Blood. So many movies are based around telling the same story, the “Wolf” is bad, a treturous being to our very survival. Wolves are better than humans will ever be, their caring, and loving, adventures, and trusting, outgoing, mysterious, and even respectful. Every virtue, in this world, some way, shape or form, describes a wolf; or its pack.
Humans, sicken me, they have since I was born. Lousily, mean, hurtful, fast to judge. Not all humans are like this, not all are even close. Yet some are far beyond those words, I couldn’t stop naming grim words about most humans, to save my life. I grew up, learning from the forest, and tress, the rivers, and streams, the moon and stars, the rain and clouds. I listen to animals, and speak their language, I understand them, and feel their pain. I have been threw a lot in my life, and I’ve had to grow up faster than I should of. I was born to be a poet, a photographer, and a animal care taker. But on top of all this, I was born to be a voice to the Canine’s preferably the elegant wolf.
Wolves have been a part of my life for so long, and I wish to show the world, that I won’t let them take my soul, my sisters, brothers, fathers and mothers, away from me.. without a fight. I love the wolf, and I will stand next to them, through the darkness of the hour, to the lighter of the day.. I will shield them from the thunder, and from the rain’s rays. I will keep them warm, through the hardest winters, and the longest of storms. I Am there for them, forever I will be, never looking back again, at what I use to be.

      • Indeed Nabeki, many of my friends do not understand the resins why I am protective over the many canines that walk the Earth, Any dog, on the street, are decedents of the wolf, and it breaks my heart to see them with no shelter, no love, and no home. Humans, are the resin for this, there the resins why so many wolves, and dogs, are frightened of us. A dog were suppose to be Man’s best Friend, but it looks like we’re not their best friends, We just kill their ancestors, we kill the seed who gave birth to them.

Zoos, are another thing, Animals in Cages, its horde… So many Zoo’s treat their animals like their scum, like their nothing. Some zOO’s i do understand, some take in animals, and nurture them. But the thought of Wolves’ in cages is like the thought of putting a new born baby in a cage, with little room to run, and no sky to look at. Just blank cold metal and rock.

I just hope one day, wolves will be free again, Free to roam the mountains, and fields.. Free from any harm done to them, by man. I do respect Indians though, I am not Anti-Kill. I just wish people would give them a fair shot at survival, and if they lose.. Then they would praise them, and use all their body, for useful things. I love deer, and wolves, bison, and birds.. But humans do need to eat, but the rate that people are killing them, and the way they are… is just inhumane, And one day I really wish for them to stop.
I do not believe in a god.. I respect those who do. My religion, is fully my own, I strictly believe in Luna, and I belie in animal souls. ❤ So I am true to my word, when I say I will fight for my ancestors.

I could not agree with you more than to say there is nothing worse in this world, than killing another living thing, just because they are powerless to the weapons and poisons we use. Just because we can. There are many, many people out there who do think this way but I truly believe that more and more people are becoming aware of what our wolves and indeed all wildlife is being sacrificed for sport and greed. And they are horrified. It’s always “I had no idea”. That is why Wolf Warriors is so important. We have to keep the focus on what is happening and why.

    • Your ideas of the indigenous peoples are a little off. While it is true that many of their people give due respect for the land and the animals that inhabit it, there are still those among them that are entertained by ending the life of an animal and have no qualms about brutal methods of killing – such as trapping, poisoning and denning.

I’ve seen an aboriginal sporting the same disgusting sport hunter’s smirk over a dingo he had shot – all for the thrill of killing and bounty on the dingo’s scalp.

  14. The Indians, respected the wolf. Till this day you hear them talk about how they were brethren. Some Indians, had no clue, but most took nature into their hands, and only grasped it enough to hold on.. They did not suffocate it, and kill it.
I may be wrong, but Indians, are still better off with treating the wolves like equals, than most humans today.
