Beautiful Romeo, Prince of Wolves. So sad he also met death at human hands. I,m having a memorial placed for him at Wolf Haven in Tenino, Washington. I am so happy for the beautiful books and photos so many will know his story. May he run forever wild and free.

Wolves have a way of speaking to the heart.
There is very little to add which has not already been said about his behaviour. He became associated with the residents as much as they became fond of him. Argue habituation but no one can deny that Romeo was an ambassador for his kind. Evidence that wolves are not always what our darker myths perceived them as. He was a beautiful animal as well. May his spirit find rest.
If I could get my hands on the persons who killed him…
But in lieu of that: a curse. May the people responsible be reincarnated as lame caribou to be brought down by wolves.

John…just looking at how happy he was to be around his “pack”. He lived a lonely life made bearable by his human and dog family.
I can’t stand the thought that Romeo, so trusting, had his life stolen from him by those poor excuses for humans.

Nabeki, I just got John Hyde’s book about Romeo. You must get it. The pics are beyond awesome and he really catches his spirit.
I know Romeo is at the bridge no longer alone, with plenty of his kind, his dog friends and the human’s who love his kind.

Amazing animal I am sure and what a loss to the people who got to see him time after time. It also disgusts me that animals like this are not protected and basically any worthless poacher or hunter can kill them if they want to. rip romeo. May the person who took your precious life away burn in hell!

The killing of this animal just demonstrates the disconnect that hunters have with nature. This degenerate poacher just couldn’t stand to see humans enjoy this animal. I hope he suffers nothing but misfortune the scumbag

You are so right William. They were just itching to get Romeo, he was bringing too much joy to people. An animal is no more important to these cretins then dirt on their shoe. Romeo died for nothing, just like Limpy, just like all the wolves that were slaughtered in the hunts and by WS. I am so sick of it.

The Druids is another sad, sad story. The biologists in the park didn’t lift a finger to treat the mange in the pack, even though Canadian biologists treated a wolf pack for mange. They could have done it but they didn’t. I’ll never forget the story of the last little female Druid that had mange so bad, she left the park and was shot and killed. Just breaks my heart.

Here’s the latest from Kathie Lynch. I believe the Blacktails are the largest pack in Yellowstone now. I think you’re right on the Leopolds, they’ve been around since 96, they were the first wolf pack in Yellowstone who came together naturally. I wanted to mention the Cottonwoods but sadly they were decimated by the hunts last year.

Dear Nabeki.
When i see for the first time the documentary called In The Valley Of The Wolfs i was so excited seeing the story about the Druids then the takeover of Slough Creek Pack and i could stop crying when Casanova comes with the Druids back home in Lamar Valley. For me the Druids are deep in my heart i love them so much and i pray just for one more time in one great reunion (i know they are so many Wolfs in different packs that run Druid blood inside them) i hope they rule again on Yellowstone and Lamar Valley…

Cant beging to tell you how much this killing bothers me on several levels.
First: The audacity to kill a wolf to begin with.
Second: Killing this wolf demonstrates to me that what matters to the killer most is themselves.
Third: And for me most disturbing is the killer betrayed the trust that this unique creature placed in all humans. This betrayal of trust just makes my heart ache.

Marc….I feel the same exact way. Watching the video of Romeo, only makes his senseless killing more painful. He was an innocent, trusting his human friends. Then he was betrayed by evil people with black hearts, as black as Romeo’s coat.

Poachers like this guy in juneau are degenerates. They are incapable of feeling joy or making an emotional connection to a wild animal. The closest they get to that emotion is the kill shot for the camera. I agree with Marc that they are selfish and only care about themselves. So what do they do- rob us of that joy as well- they suck!!!!!! They don’t care about the health of ecosystems, because if they did they would be pro-wolf. They have a narrow view of a wolf being a threat to that next animal. How stupid

I have my doubts William if they even know what an ecosystem is. All they think about is how much fun they’re going to have killing something. You can’t talk or reason with people like that. As Wolf Wars states…it’s a “cult of death”.

I’m almost too heartbroken by this story for words. I’m well aware of the evils man perpetrates on this world we call ours. Man’s selfishness, greed, hunger for superiority and unreasonable fears are destroying the planet. All my blessings to Romeo’s spirit along with all of his breathren who’s lives were taken so unnaturally. I pray for an end to human hostilities. Allow the Earth and all her inhabitants to heal and live in peace and harmony as intended. Blessed Be.

Thank you for your reply to my comments. I wish I knew what evil drives people to end such beautiful lives. They need to be forced to live among the wolves, to learn first hand the wonders of these packs, and the individual animals who make them up. Witness the love of family that many humans have lost. I would much rather live among wolves myself than around the horror and destruction that man has created. Wolves have all my love, trust and respect naturally where as a human must earn it from me. Romeo will always live within us, may his spirit soar.

Romeo was a pure heart and gave the people of Juneau much joy and their dogs as well. They were his pack. He will be remembered for the great wolf he was.

there is a story in native southamerican beliefs, that if humans will kill wolves they and all the world will be exterminate it, and vice versa if humans kept killing wolves the ancients will do the same, well wolves retreated back, far away from humans into mountains, but humans went crazy, they got too much power on their hands, and they started believing they were more than us, wolves and other animal families, so they started killing, and taking over so much that the ancients will soon step up, you can see they already doing things to us, tsunamis, earthquakes, wolves are the best hunter and they are way more in contact with their hearts than us, thats why humans are jealous of them because they are hunters with a heart and they respect everything and everyone. wolves do not deserve whats happening, but we humans will pay, sadly all of us, and mother earth will be better off without us anyway…we are few who respect the circle of life…too few…i love wolves.

I can hardly type for the tears. Romeo, my sweet boy, I never knew you but I hold you close in my heart. You gave so many humans and dogs such happiness in sharing your friendship and trust. I hope the evil person who took your innocent life will someday pay with his own life. I too Nabeki have to believe in karma, otherwise I could not bear it.

Nabeki- I received the Coleman book the other day. It is well written and there are some disturbing photos, including one where a derelict hunter- you know the look- short, unclean, looking like a homeless person ( No offense to the homeless)is shown using a LIVE wolf cub as bait for larger predators! What a credit to the human race these people are!

I ordered it william but haven’t received it. I shudder to think what’s in there. Not looking forward to seeing that photo but I believe we have to face the enemy head on. Knowledge is power. I know Coleman is a college professor. He certainly got the title right.

I was somewhat aware of Romeo, the friendly, playful wolf of Juneau, having heard about him on NPR. I just read the new Nick Jans book, A WOLF CALLED ROMEO which has awakened a new, strong sense of just how special Romeo was. Through this book, I truly made a heartfelt connection with this beautiful wolf. He will always be a part of me even though he is now gone. I cannot fathom the depths of evil in the cold blooded hearts of the two vile men who killed him. Now, after so much time has passed, we know who they are and know of their hateful, evil spirits. I am sorry that they got such an easy judgement from the judicial system. I wish I could have met Romeo. Those who did are surely blessed. I close with the message of Psalm 50 where God states that all the animals of the wild belong to Him. Thank you, Lord, for sharing Romeo with us! He was truly a heavenly gift.
