Fair Chase? Not Even Close….

Ursus Americanus

Just when you think you’ve heard it all, last year a trophy hunter in Colorado tracked a 700 lb. black bear  back to its den, waited awhile for the bear to come out and then crawled into its den and shot it.

I just can’t wrap my mind around this. I mean who does that?

I couldn’t bring myself to post the grinning  picture, you can see it in the links below. Its just too sad.

Now Colorado is going to ban shooting bears in their dens. Good. But for godsakes do you have to pass a law banning something that should never happen in the first place? Is it so important to get the biggest and the best, that you’d actually crawl into a bears den and kill it  just to achieve that? I will never understand this, never!!

  1. OMG, Nabeki I cannot even process this mentally. And thank god I can’t. When, oh when are we going to have strict laws regarding wildlife, or heck, even enforce the ones we do have. I agree, the fact that Colorado has to have a law banning something that I would say 85% of the population would find abhorrent in first place speaks volumes.

  2. In the U.S groups like SCI, USSA, and to some extent the NRA’s hunting lobby have succeeded in turning common sense arguments toward ethical treatment of animals to an attack on hunting freedom. The NRA has been successful at using this approach with guns as well. Who in their right mind would support letting any US citizen have the ability to carry a 31 or 33 bullet clip? The NRA that’s who. People and animals continue to die senseless deaths as the hypoicrits like dimwit Palin and the NRA to pray for the victims- pray my a(*

  3. Remember….most of these zombie/serial killer hunters have less than a 70 IQ and the cold, calculated murder of a sentient being is, to them, just a normal day to day event.

“If you hunt the way you spell, the animals don’t have anything to worry about”.

    • I told Nabeki- I don’t know how you guys can stand the ignorance and stupidity of the western “redneck”. There had to have been an aberration in their already defective gene pool.

      • I think there has been:”some” dilution of that gene pool….problem is, they’re afraid to speak up because of intimidation. So all clueless, rednecks get the press.

  5. I used to belong FNAWS (Foundation for North American Wild Sheep), but after going to two of their national conventions and seeing booth after booth dedicated to glorifing the killing of wild sheep and selling of hunts for various species of Wild Sheep,I could no longer be a member. So many hunting organizations claim to be of great benefit to wildlife populations, but in reality they just want them there as targets.
FNAWS had a motto of “Putting Sheep on the Mountain”, but in reality they forgot to add “So We Can Kill Them”.

    • Very well said Larry. What’s the point of someone calling themselves a conservationist because they want to increase the number of wildlife so they can turn around and kill them? To me a conservationist is someone who respects wildlife and enjoys seeing them in their natural habitat, ALIVE. Any shooting should be done with a camera.

      • I bring this up all the time. Hunters will constantly claim they love wildlife, but I am 100% convinced that a lot of them love wildlife alright, they love KILLING IT. We (the real wildlife lovers) want to conserve wildlife just so it can be seen and we believe that all wildlife should have the right to live. Afterall, god created them if you believe there is a god. Hunters want to conserve the animals, so they can be shot. Most of them also hate predators. Don Peay, Toby Bridges, Jim Beers, Rockholm, all of these hunting nuts hate predators and it’s very easy to see that. Just read their comments and articles. These nuts care nothing for balanace. They want to ARTIFICIALLY manipulate wildlife populations for their own benefit and it’s sickening. How can you tree a lion and shoot it dead and have the nerve to claim you love and respect wildlife? You can’t love nature with a gun. The true conservationist is the one that shoots a wilf animal with his/her camera.

  6. “Fair chase” is a farse, where’s the chase? A person lays around with a high powered ranged weapon for hours on end and kills an animal with the touch of a button (so to speak).
