Oregon’s Imnaha Wolf Pack…December 30, 2010

Thought you would enjoy seeing the ODFW video of the Imnaha alpha female and a couple of her 2o1o pups. She looks beautiful.

Apparently the 16 wolf strong Imnaha pack had six pups last spring, not four. as previously thought.  Great to see them looking so healthy.

    Great news, and good to see them looking in great shape. Hopefully next year or year after we’ll see a new pack secure a new territory for wolves in Oregon.

    Also in the news, Roblyn Brown has a damn sweet job 🙂

      The little two year old Wenaha male was collared and ended up being killed. That’s what happens when wolves are collared.

        Okay, now I remember. Yes, as we have said many, many times. A collar on a wolf is a death sentence sooner or later. I am not sure when these collars were introduced, and it may be been a good idea at the time, but with GPS available to anyone and everyone, which of course includes poachers, it is time to realize these devices are not protecting wolves, but are in fact making them extremely vulnerable. As we have said so many times, it’s hard enough to be a wolf without murder weapons so readily available.

        I did a post on him, it was called “Beautiful Boy”. Then he was killed, not too long after he was collared. Collars are a death sentence for wolves. It’s how WS tracks them. Sometimes they will even collar one wolf in a pack so that wolf can lead them to the other wolves. No more collars on wolves.

    I probably worry most about the Oregon and Washington wolves. I have seen hunters already made comments about wanting to get rid of the wolves in Oregon and Washington. These disgusting vile people want to wipe out wolves, so they can be more game for them. Who are they to take wildlife away from those who truly treasure it?

    The Imnaha alpha female is a cool looking wolf with plenty of character and grace. I get upset when I see Republican politicians and voters that are so against wildlife. I was watching some of the repeal debate and I had to shut it off. It is depressing to watch politicians with the best health care in the world act so heartless and cllous toward their fellow americans. I view the Republicans as slimy and dirty to rehash this debate again, and worse to claim this is a mandate to repeal this bill for “America”. I can’t think of anything more UNAMERICAN to deny people access to healthcare. Sorry Nabeki this makes me sick

William, I believe you are a northeasterner like me and you know that health insurance is very expensive and it makes it very hard for some to get buy when you are having to buy these ridiculously expensive health care plan. I agree people should have a health care plan. You may need it sometime or another, but some of the plans here where me and you are from are extremely expensive. That is why some are against the govt forcing healthcare down their throats. If they can’t afford to buy health insurance, they sure won’t be able to pay the fines that govt will throw at them for not buying health insurance. Just one man’s opinion about it

I saw the same attitudes fifteen years ago when wolves were just being reintroduced. Wolves are a convenient scapegoat, just like they were a hundred years ago. We have to keep making this point.
