Government Shutdown Looms, Rumors Of Short Term Deal…

April 8, 2011 @ 10:00 Mtn.

UPDATE: I just heard Paul Begalla on CNN say there ZERO riders in this budget bill. If that’s true we’ve won a big battle to keep wolves protected.

April 8, 2011 @ 9:00pm Mtn.

UPDATE: DEAL REACHED, DON’T KNOW THE SPECIFICS. PRAY THERE ARE NOT ANY WOLF DELISTING RIDERS.

=======

Here we are again, another deadline, another threat the government will be shut down. Is the wolf delisting rider still in the bill, is Tester trying to include it at the last-minute? I don’t know. They are telling us very little.

Wolves and the ESA are not even being mentioned. I think there is a reason for that. They don’t want people calling them about a wolf slaughter, if the rider passes. Well guess what, that’s exactly what we should be doing and continue to do until there is absolutely no wolf delisting riders included in the budget bill.

I predict they will fund the government for another week to avert the shutdown. But continue to call Senator Reid and your Senators. Tell them no wolf delisting riders in the budget bill. Tell them to stop the attack on the ESA.

I don’t know about you but I sick and tired of this continued attack on wolves.

Possible deal in works as shutdown deadline nears

By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent 22 mins ago

WASHINGTON – Perilously close to a government shutdown, the White House and congressional leaders closed in on a possible deal to cut tens of billions of dollars in federal spending and avert the closure, officials said Friday night.

House Republican leaders summoned their rank and file to a late night meeting for what aides said would be an update on the talks.

Democrats said they were reviewing the details of a possible tentative agreement.

  1. Nabeki-
    It has been very stressful wondering if wolves and the ESA would be used as bargaining chips in this Budget fiasco. This is EXACTLY why wildlife should not be subjected to legislation pressure. The politics on both sides is sickening. I made about 25 calls today, I told Boxer’s office many people are disappointed in her lack of leadership with the ESA issue, and I don’t trust Obama or reid to stick to their principles

    • It is so maddening william. Even though they stripped all the riders out of this stop-gap measure can they put them back in before April 15? This reminds me of ground hog day…the same scenario over and over. I am beyond disgusted with politicians of both parties.

      • All we can do is SHAME the Democrats into standing up for things they should have strong convictions for. I have been hard on these Democratic Senators but inaction would be worse. The climate in Idaho and Montana is RABID
