I’ve always been so moved by John Anderson’s song, Seminole Wind. It’s haunting and speaks to the destruction of the Everglades, home of the Seminoles.
But it’s so much more. It embodies how man has run rough shod over our land in the name of progress. It speaks of devaluing nature. When will we learn that our greatest gifts are the remaining wild places and wildlife, meant to treasure, not destroy?
Think of wolves when you listen, they are howling for justice!

This is so beautiful – it touches my Soul – when I look at the huge City – when I look at the ruins left of old – my Heart cries – where did that Wind go? Why won’t it come back and bring back that which was so beautiful – so mystical –
I miss all of Nature that we have lost – and all the Species of Animals that have gone to the Spirits – and soon we will be no more.

Yes I love this song and where has it all gone? It’s gone to Manifest Destiny and the entitled ones that think the earth is here to use and abuse as their own personal playground.

I liked this song, although I can’t get any sound, I read the words and they were hauntingly beautiful. And as the Earth weeps and feels the rape and destruction all around her and mourns for her dead children, the words of Jesus ring in my ears, “forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

On the subject of biodiversity… Yesterday scientists announced that we are on the verge of a mass extinction of marine life caused by pollution, overfishing and the acidification in the oceans.

A scientific study such as this should not surprise anybody who is vaguely interested in the environment. Scientists have been warning us about this for decades and yet we have taken no effective action to stop the damage we cause to the environment in this planet. Delivering this report to the UN will probably make no difference whatsoever. Politicians will only pander and argue over it and then establish targets to tackle the problem… only to announce that they won’t be met anyway…and it will be business as usual. We will just sleepwalk backwards again to where we started. Just as they’ve done with their agreements to cut CO2 emissions.
For a species that prides itself on its “superior intelligence”, we are outstandingly short sighted and ignorant in our endless greed, arrogance and selfishness. We are unable to put our differences aside and work together for the greater good or to take action before it’s too late. Even when the survival of life on this planet depends upon it. If only people stopped for a moment and listened to Carl Sagan and Jacques Cousteau:

valondon……Two giants, Carl Sagan and Jacques Cousteau. They were shouting from the roof tops. But the destroyers of this planet continue on their march of destruction. Mass extinctions are now a way of life for the earth. It’s a sad commentary of our stewardship of this beautiful planet. But there is always hope and good people are working to effect change. Will we be in time to save the earth?

Love the song. Progress is just another word for greed. Whatever other meaning it had , has since become lost. At the rate we’re destroying wildlife and the land, man will become a self curing problem. Our total lack of regard for life speaks volumes to our inhumanity.

Dianna I was told that every day 250 species go extinct. Is that mind blowing or what? Mankind is a scourge upon this earth, well at least some of us.
