Idaho’s Deadly Wolf Hunt Proposal!! SPEAK OUT!!

Are the 81 Senators, who voted to delist wolves by budget rider, paying attention to what lies ahead for  wolves in Idaho?

We called, emailed and begged them not to turn wolves over to Montana and Idaho.  But they didn’t listen.  Did they think when they voted  for the budget wolf delisting rider it wouldn’t have consequences?

This is what awaits Idaho’s wolves in the up-coming 2o11 wolf hunt.

•There will be no quota on slaughtering wolves in much of the state.

•Pups born this Spring will lose their families and their lives right along with their parents.

•A ten week trapping season. Trappers can kill up to 5 wolves each.

(“Trappers may buy up to 3 tags with trapping license for use in those zones with an open trapping season in addition to 2 tags purchased for hunting; un-used tags from hunting season (up to 2) may also be used to tag trapped wolves.”)

•Hunters Can Kill Up Two Wolves Each.

•”Wolf seasons are Any-Weapon seasons.”

•”Electronic calls may be used statewide.”

•”Wolves may be taken incidentally during fall bear baiting.”

•A SEVEN MONTH LONG HUNT FROM AUGUST 30, 2011 TO MARCH 31, 2011

This is going to be wholesale slaughter. You are seeing what it means to “manage” wolves in Idaho.

There are approx 705 wolves in Idaho, not counting this years pups. Idaho wants to “manage” wolves down to 150 animals. If that isn’t horrific enough, what will stop them from going lower? That means hundreds and hundreds of wolves will lose their lives. If the hunters don’t do the trick then:

“Idaho will also rely on federal wolf hunters and airborne gunners to kill wolves”

“Wolf control actions will take place in and out of the hunting season,”

Is America going to sit by while Idaho slaughters wolves in the most unspeakable ways, along with the pups born this Spring?

Is America going to watch this horror show and do nothing?

Speak out people!

Stand up for wolves!

“•Early next week, Fish and Game will conduct a random survey of hunters and members of the general public about the 2011 wolf season proposal. The survey will also be posted on the 2011 wolf proposal webpage for other interested parties to offer input. Results will be made available at the Idaho Fish and Game Commission Meeting July 27, 28, 29 in Salmon.”

Please make sure you respond to this “survey’! I will post the link as soon as it’s up!

Idaho’s 2011 Wolf Hunt Proposal

Boise, Idaho — Idaho’s Department Fish and Game published its proposal for a “carefully regulated general hunting season” on Friday.

Plans call for the proposal to be finalized on July 27th at the IDFG Commission meeting in Salmon.

Director Virgil Moore says the 2011 hunting season proposal would allow Idaho hunters to take up to two wolves each, while trappers in the Gem State would be allowed to take up to three wolves.

Idaho wolf hunting rules don’t include quotas

By JOHN MILLER – Associated Press

Published: 07/08/11

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho wildlife managers won’t have quotas on wolves in much of the state for the upcoming hunting season as they seek to significantly reduce the population now estimated to number more than 1,000 animals in the state.

Idaho Department of Fish and Game officials announced the plan Friday, while Montana aims to sign off on its own wolf-hunting plan next week.

Idaho’s no-quota, general season in about three-quarters of its wolf country will please those who believe wolves have multiplied beyond acceptable levels but anger wildlife advocates who fear the state will manage wolves irresponsibly.

“Trappers may buy up to 3 tags with trapping license for use in those zones with an open trapping season in addition to 2 tags purchased for hunting; un-used tags from hunting season (up to 2) may also be used to tag trapped wolves.”

      Wolf Hunting Season Proposals:
“Standard hunting season dates statewide: Aug 30 – Mar 31, except for Aug 30 – Dec 31 in Island Park and Beaverhead wolf management zones.
Hunters may buy 2 tags per calendar year.
Bag limit: No person may take more than one wolf per legal tag in his or her possession.
Wolf seasons are Any-Weapon seasons. (archery?)
Electronic calls may be used statewide.
Wolves may be taken incidentally during fall bear baiting.
Reduced-price nonresident wolf tags ($31.75) in Lolo, Selway, and Middle Fork Wolf zones, consistent w/ nonresident bear and lion tag prices.
Hunters must report killing a wolf within 72 hours. Hunters must present skull and hide to IDFG office within 10 days.
The wolf season closes when the harvest limit for that zone is reached or the season closing date, whichever comes first.”

      Wolf Trapping Season Proposals:
Trapping season dates: Dec 1 – Feb 15.
      Trappers may buy up to 3 tags with trapping license for use in those zones with an open trapping season in addition to 2 tags purchased for hunting;
un-used tags from hunting season (up to 2) may also be used to tag trapped wolves.
Bag limit: No person may take more than one wolf per legal tag in his or her possession.
Methods of take: Both snares and foothold traps w/ jaw spread not to exceed 9 inches are legal during wolf trapping season.
Tags purchased for trapping may be used to take wolves through hunting where and when the wolf trapping season is open.
Baiting regulations for trapping wolves are consistent with regulations for furbearers.
Mandatory trapping education class required before purchasing tags for wolf trapping.
72 hour trap check requirement, same as for furbearer trapping.
Reduced price nonresident wolf tags ($31.75) in Lolo, Selway, and Middle Fork Wolf zones, consist w/ bear and lion tag prices.

      • Jon…Basically I can just copy and paste all the remarks I made about their hunt in 2009. of course this is so much worse. Then they were on their so called “good behavior”. Now that wolves are totally unprotected they’ve shown their true colors, besides I think they’re worried Judge Molloy may stop the hunts and want to kill as many wolves as possible as quickly as possible. Just horrific.

      • yep, lets hope molloy relists. Idaho fish and game showed their true colors. I asked mark gamblin who works for idaho fish and game what if other animals get caught in the snared or leg hold traps meant for wolves. Idaho fish and game can defend trapping all they want, but one thing they cannot deny that is snaring and trapping are indiscriminate. Makes me sick that they are catering to the hunters whose only concern is getting to kill wildlife.

      • In most states in Australia, Canis lupus dingo is still regarded as a ‘pest’ – aside from the state of Victoria which has only recently listed the species as ‘Threatened’ – however, it is a flimsy protection much like the protections given to grey wolves after their reintroduction. The Victorian government’s stipulation of ‘pure’ dingoes unfortunately leaves the loophole for farmers and hunters to say they killed a hybrid. Hybridisation is not as much of a detriment to the dingo as it is made out to be, a red herring to deter attention from the real threat (i.e. humans). Our environment is harsh and any animal that is not suitable enough to survive will quickly perish. Think of the black wolves of North America, those are hybrids as well given their colouration is due to a domestic dog gene.
Dingoes are fully protected in National Parks but this does not stop culling in said parks. Fraser Island is proof enough of that.

Due to the ‘Pest’ classification, there is no season and no limit. Adults and puppies can be killed in whatever manner hunters and trappers see fit. Queensland potentially being the worst offender. I am ashamed of the atrocities commited in my home state and country as a whole.

This is exactly what we need to stay focused and in tune to what others are doing in their fight for the wolves. In any fight for what is right, there has to be a central location where everyone can come together, and this blog is that central location! • Think about all the fatal hunting accidents every year in the US and Canada….almost 100/annually. A toddler was shot. People shoot their own children by accident, they shoot other family members, innocent strangers. Who likes to walk in the woods during hunting season? And hey you don’t even have to be in the woods to get shot and killed, people have been killed by hunters in the backyard. They shoot animals they aren’t supposed to. Every year they kill grizzly bears which are a protected species. They kill them even though they have to attend a class so they won’t have an excuse saying they can’t tell the difference between a black bear and a grizzly. But grizzlies still end up getting shot by hunters.

It’s a bloodbath every year and yet they have the nerve to blame wolves for threatening children at bus stops (lies of course) when wolves haven’t killed anyone in the lower 48 in more then a century, since they’ve been keeping records and only two fatalities in all of North America, both controversial and not witnessed. Yet hunters are shooting almost a hundred people a year in the US and Canada. Hypocrites!!!

Being a caretaker to many wolves over the past three decades I simply can not put into words on how much this sickens me…I pray for a positive change and for these majestic animals be left alone to live out their lives in Peace with their families..sending all that support the wolves so much gratitude and so many blessings and for those that do not that you awaken and realize that this is beyond wrong.

35. I live in Coeur d’Alene, ID and have verbally fought with the sub human Rednecks, that kill strictly for pleasure. Killing the wolves will only continue Mother Nature’s imbalance. Wolves will become extinct in this area if hunting is allowed. There is an over abundance of deer and elk, which hunters are regulated. Deer and elk are killed for food, whereas the subhumans hunt for fun and bragging what big boys they are! Poaching will continue no matter if there is a season or not! If tags are allowed, it just gives them permission to murder legally. The bottom line is, wolves pose absolutely NO threat to anyone. Line those pockets for the almighty dollar and continue without value or integrity. This sickness can be cured!

    • I think you need to read the wolf report for yourself wolf LOVER. Biologists stated there were a minimum of 705 wolves counted at the end of 2010. Since then the pups have been born and they are estimating there are a 1000 wolves in Idaho. Not sure I believe 300 pups were born but there you have it.

WOLF CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT IN IDAHO PROGRESS REPORT 2010

Biologists documented 87 Idaho packs alive at the end of 2010. The minimum year-end
population was estimated at 705 wolves (Appendix A).

  40. I have just seen the episode of ‘Survival: with Ray Mears’ and as a target shooter and hunter I have the greatest respect for these magnificent creatures, and it has to be said Ray Mears..
Being from the UK I can only imagine the vastness of the Idaho and Montana ranges and find it hard to believe they cannot accommodate 700 or so of these solitary animals. I fear the de-listing will amount to an open season for every big bore long distance trophy shooter going. Note the lack of using the term hunter. A hunter is a sportsman/woman, and should have the utmost respect for his/her quarry. Where there is no control or management required one should content ones self with practice and competition on paper against ones peers.
I wish the Wolves and any campaigning on their behalf the very best for the future.

    • Dear RT, I have to disagree with you when you state that a hunter is a sportsman/woman. Hunting must NEVER be seen as a sport. Centuries ago it was a crucial part of the survival of the human race, but today hunting is a violent form of recreation that the vast majority of hunters do not need for subsistence. The killing of living creatures for recreation is a crime which has contributed to the extinction of animal species all over the globe.

It is also estimated that more than 50 percent of the animals which are shot, are wounded, but not killed by the hunters, causing them intolerable pain and suffering. Hunting is a process of torture and there is NO sportsmanship present in this act of cruel animal abuse. From the moment on that the hunter is chasing after his/her quarry with the intention to end its life, there is no respect either, but only disdain.

Every being deserves the utmost respect for the single fact of its living existence and we do not have the right to end the life of any creature.

PENGE-PENGE, ER NUMMER 1, i denne modbydelige verden for dyr. NY LOV,nu.

But next time I get paid ~ I am going to head over to a Kinkos & make myself a BIG old sign, & I will then put it by the busy street by where I live to get the word out. I just have to think of what that sign is going to say – something really, really GOOD.
    Just 1 idea.
