Alert: Howl Across America, Friends of Animals and Predator Defense, Plan Rally For Wolves In Helena…

Howl Across America, Friends of Animals and Predator Defense are holding a rally and press conference in Helena, Montana on October 14, 2011 to protest the brutal wolf hunts.

From Friends of Animals Website:

The Howl-In and Press Conference will take place on Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Montana State Capital Building in Helena from 12:00 pm-2:00pm. We’re asking everyone who cares about wolves and wolf recovery to attend.

“We’re demanding an immediate end to state-sponsored wolf slaughter and, until it ends, we’ve called for a complete boycott of the states of Montana, Idaho and Wyoming,” says Friends of Animals’ president Priscilla Feral.

Montana’s Senator John Tester is responsible for attaching a de-listing rider to the budget bill, which changed the wolves’ protected status –and avoided public and scientific scrutiny—even though it’s estimated that nearly 1500 wolves remain in the Northern Rockies.

In response, Friends of Animals quickly called on members and supporters across the country and around the globe to boycott Idaho, Wyoming and Montana—including Yellowstone National Park, which exists in all three states—as long as these states continue persecuting wolves.

High-profile Howl-Ins organized by Friends of Animals were held in Washington, DC and New York City, gaining national press attention from media outlets such as CNN, Huffington Post, as well as state, local and regional print publications.

Wolf biologist Jay S. Mallonee recently published a peer-reviewed scientific paper, Hunting Wolves In Montana – Where Are the Data? in the journal Nature and Science—concluding that Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks does not know how many wolves exist in the state and disregards their role in the ecosystem altogether.

Priscilla Feral says, “We won’t stop until gray wolves are given federal protection. It shouldn’t take a slaughter to make that happen.”

Your attendance is very important. Please bring colorful posters, spirited banners, placards and noisemakers to the rally. We’re targeting Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer, Senator John Tester and Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar—all of whom contributed to the persecution of gray wolves in Montana and beyond. Posters should emphasize the economic boycott of WY, ID and MT. Because the media will attend, it’s important to present creative posters that are large and legible.

When: Friday, October 14th, 2001, 12pm-2pm

2. INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS TO CREATE CRITICAL MASS TO MAKE A CHANGE FOR WOLVES

Your organization does not have to support the boycott, we just need you to show support for wolves.

PLEASE NOTIFY YOUR MEMBERSHIP TO BE THERE FOR THE WOLVES.

Lets show unity and stand together during this dark period.

Thank you for your attention and consideration.

  5. Applause to Nabeki and all for making the trek to the gov’s office in Helena. Plan these rallies in big, public places. They show public DISSENT aside from ongoing court actions, and you reflect the intestinal fortutude to show up; come out from behind a computer or press release, and tell the
government that’s responsible for wolf slaughter that you’re fed up and
want change. You also assure your own safety and the safety of comrades because the police will automatically be there.

What the environmental and animal advocacy groups seem to lack these days is COURAGE. Show yours.

    Love and thanks,

    Priscilla

It’s time to put differences and personal egos aside and come together to support the upcoming wolf rally in Helena, Mt on Oct 14th. It’s about wolves and it’s late in the 4th quarter…they’re losing, and for them there is no overtime.
I’m specifically calling on the organizations that have numerous members in Montana….ie, “Wolves of the Rockies”, “WolfWatcher”, “Defenders of Wildlife” and “NRDC” to rally and inform your membership and friends to attend the Howl-In and press conference in Helena. I’m asking you to post information about this rally on your various facebook and blog pages so that your followers that care about the future of wolves will be informed.
All of the information pertaining to the rally can be found on “Wolf Warriors” and or “Howling for Justice”.
If you are a member of friend of any of these organizations, please ask your administrators to support this effort……Jerry Black

  9. I know that this is a little bit off topic, but I would like to share an interesting article that I found at:

    http://www.spiegel.de/international/zeitgeist/0,1518,787739,00.html

This is a very interesting article about wolf reintroduction in Germany. One can see that there is a certain degree of controversy there, too, but it does not reach the intensity, cruelty and viciousness that we witness in North America. There are hunters and ranchers there, too, but they are far less rabid than those in this country. I think we have a lot to learn from the European experience.

  10. Hi, Ramses —

I’d adore meeting you, too, and expect to make a trip to Montana at
another time — maybe for a court appearance — but on the 14th I already
had a trip planned in South Carolina. You will be meeting two fabulous
people from Friends of Animals — Dustin and Edita, and also joining them
from Oregon is the director of Predator Defense, Brooks Fahy — a
friend and gifted person who never lets politics get in the way of a cogent idea! So please attend the Helena rally at do look for all of them.

October 14th is the second anniversary of Dr. Gordon Haber’s death, the extraordinary wolf biologist whose field work we sponsored in Alaska for 17 years. So this date is profoundly meaningful to us, and Gordon would have told me to make sure the state’s biologists are blasted in for advancing bogus, unscientific claims about wolves, conflicts with others, and their interactions with prey and livestock.

    Regards,

    Priscilla

  11. Beloved howlers, I will most definitely be there. :)))
My good friend, colleague, and wolf sister Toni Stark
and her brother Joey will provide the transportation for
my trip to Helena and back, like they did for the
    trip to Bozeman…..AroOOOooOOOOOoooo
This will also be my very first trip to Helena.

    Let’s hope those square-brained redneck country-bumpkin
antis don’t crash this gig like they did in Bozeman.
After all, they’ve already had their say a long time ago,
and they should stay home, guzzling their moonshine,
while watching old reruns of “Hee Haw” in some old
    broken-down 19th Century outhouse. ;))))))))))

It’s time for us howlers shine in the spotlight
and shake up the status quo in a big way.

Faithful howlers, near and far, come join us in Helena
and make this event the biggest happening since
    The love-ins and be-ins in ’67 and
    Woodstock back in ’69….
We’re gonna rock this joint big time, baby. 😉
Among other things, I’m looking forward to meet Edita in person.
Not only she does a superb job for our noble cause,
    she’s soooooooooooooooooo cute. ❤

And Priscilla, I've hoping to meet you in person too,
but I notice that you also have a busy schedule
at some of the related events that are coming up.
    That's okay, it's all good…
    It's for our adorable pooches….ArooOOOOooooooooooooo
