PRESS RELEASE: Ninth Circuit Denies Emergency Injunction To Stop Wolf Hunts…For Now!!

Press Release

Mike Garrity
Alliance for the Wild Rockies 406 459-5936

Mike Garrity, Executive Director of the Alliance for the Wild Rockies said, “The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals denied today, prior to oral argument, our request for an injunction to stop the hunting of wolves (meaning no injunction will be granted before hearing before the Ninth Circuit on November 8th).  The Court will take up our emergency motion request after the government has a chance to respond by filing a reply brief no later than October 28, 2011.”

“Unfortunately this means wolves will be hunted and trapped in Idaho and hunted in Montana for at least another three weeks.  We remain optimistic that we can still stop wolf hunting at the hearing before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on November 8th and we are thankful at least the Ninth Circuit will consider our arguments,” concluded Garrity.

  1. Is this not just like the Nazi courts…no recourse…what is wrong with this nation…what “Justice…” Thrill-kill nation, Cult of Death Nation…this is not America…

    • The inmates are running the asylum Catherine. President Obama gave them the keys to our wild places by putting a rancher in charge of the Interior and now they are running roughshod over our national treasures. He is the worst President in the history of our nation. I blame him and the US Senate for selling us out.

      • I agree wholeheartedly – I don’t have any respect for that man at all anymore – even though at one time I thought he would do us good – he was bought as easily as a dime piece of candy by Hunters, Big Oil and everybody else now has him in their pocket and he can’t find his way out. So far he has not done one thing that’s good for us – wait – I heard people on Social Security are finally going to get a payraise starting in Jan – not that much but better than the last two years. I don’t think he can multitask and tackle more than one problem at the time. Now I also hear that Obama Care will most likely fall off the Books – the Schools they closed here in Texas were able to reopen – someone must have knocked him out and made some intelligent decisions – I do not hate – I have hated a few people in my lifetime but it takes too much energy – but what he is taking from us now is too much – people are calling for Justice and clean Air in the Streets. I have not seen such Gatherings since Viet Nam – these are Protests that should have started two years ago.

And I find that I do carry some hate for that Man – not enough to weight me down – I learned my lesson but I can not excuse any of his actions – and I am also highly disappointed in the Appelate Courts and all those that seem to deny one injunction after enough and will not even save ONE Wolf –

  2. You would think that hunting groups like Safari International would have at least the minimum common sense to recognize that wolves are in danger of becoming extinct and so it would make sense not to kill them all if hunters are thinking of the future, not just the present. I abhor all hunting, but I cannot begin to understand the thinking of these groups.

Like Nabeki, I too am furious at President Obama and his appointees Ken Salazar and Tom Vlisek, for entirely abandoning environmental and wildlife concerns.

My heart breaks for these beautiful wolves. You would think that anyone who supports “family values” would recognize how dedicated wolves are to their families. Human beings can be so cruel and short-sighted.

  3. Oh my god ……… WTF????? Isn’t there anyone out there who is honest – The ESA specifically states ” the law makes endangered species protection the highest priority of government.”

“Nothing is more priceless and more worthy of preservation than the rich array of animal life with which our country has been blessed.”
-President Nixon, upon signing the Endangered Species Act

  4. The 2nd extinction of America’s wolves will lay at Obama’s door. Shame on him.

    • Many of our previous Presidents have belonged to Safari Groups – Mr. Bush the previous wonderful President we had was one of their biggest members – I don’t know about Obama – I don’t think he cares anything about any animals – they are below his “Royal Standing” – coming from a mixed marriage – with the fight on his hands to prove where he was born – if he was born before Hawaii became a State what would that make him? And darn I can’t remember when Hawaii did become a State. People that can kill Animals that are tranquilzed and fenced in with no hope of escape – anyone that can do that is not a member of the Human Race in my Book and can not think beyond what they want and have to have – the hell with the Future and anybody else – keep killing and keep spilling blood – but their day will come.

  6. I was hopefl, but didn’t think it would happen. Unfortunately, once the protection was lifted it started a tidal wave of what was apparently pent-up hatred – which I do not understand – the Wolves are such beautiful animals it makes me sick. You are right Obama has been the worse we could have – I thought after 8years of Bush things would turn around, but all environmental issues are taking a back seat and it was clear from his appointees he does not give a shit. How about joing the local marches against Wall Sreet – with posters of Wolf horrors.=?

    • Pat…it was a tidal wave of hate that washed over the wolves because it’s really not the wolves the haters are mad at but the conservationists. It’s a way for them to stick a finger in our eye, it’s a way for them to kill some thing we love and get away with it.

    • A wonderful thought – but if they killed one of those Hunters they would go to jail – after all it is perfectly legal to kill animals any old way – what are they? do they not feel pain? are they not alive? why should we behold them in a lower state than our own? So far they are considered chattel (sp?) – and the wild ones are the ones that anybody can do whatever the want to –
I came to this Country – I was one of the proudest people ever to put my hand over my heart and I would have died for America – when I look at it now – I do not feel safe anymore and I am afraid of what will tomorrow bring – where has this wonderful great Country gone off track? Bush started the Train rolling and Obama is giving it all the steam it needs.

    • Yes, shadow, that’s what they need. One problem I’m seeing with the pro wolf movement is there seems to be lots of division lately. We have to remain focused on saving wolves.

  8. This is not good. To be honest, I don’t trust these judges now.

    Like

    • I bet they love to hunt Wolves – why else would they deny every injunction that was filed – an injunction can preceed arguements in front of the Court – that’s what it’s for to hold off the Horror until they hear both sides – they need to select different Judges or a different Court. We really can not expect that those Judges are not prone to vote against Wolves. I have given up on them when they denied the first injunction – why?

They want to get a few days in themselves before the make their decision – and I have a sick feeling deep inside of what their decision will be.

    • We still have another shot at it Justin on November 8th. We need this injunction or there won’t be any wolves left to save.

  9. I am having a hard time remaining optimistic…very very sad days for this country ! Being German I usually don”t like any Nazi comparisons but the the way the wolf rider was pushed through and the insane amount of hate that is spilled out by the wolf hunters really makes me wonder…..

    • It is hard tanja, I know that, believe me. I deal with this every day. BUT we still have a chance, no matter how slim. We have to hold onto that. The wolf haters have shifted their hate of environmentalists and the government onto wolves, it’s a classic case of transference.

  10. Big surprise, the political hack judges, appointed by political hack presidents, and approved by political hack congress cave to powerful wolf murders.

We the people have virtually no say in anything. The majority of citizens would vote to stop this slaughter immediately if we had any power at all.

It is time for a direct democracy. We have the technology for it!!

In the meantime, vote the bastards out!!!!!!

  11. I am praying that the Ninth Court will use their hearts and minds and common sense and not their politics and let these wolves live in piece. Defenders HAS shown these farmers how to live peacefully with the wolf. Now we will see how honest our Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is. Killing the adult wolves will only leave puppies to starve. Let’s just turn the tables for a moment. What if somebody killed the adults and left the all the babies in their cribs to starve to death. Yes, it is the same thing. The puppies feel the same pain. Just because they are on fours and don’t live in buildings doesn’t make them any less important or loved in God’s eyes. God put them here for a reason. They are a benefit to our Eco System. Without them herds overgraze, they become sickly, plants, trees, don’t have a chance to grow, birds don’t have a place to build their homes and raise their young….and the list goes on. These farmers/hunters are only slaugthering wolves for the sake of sport hunting or trying to feel like men. It doesn’t work that way. Please, make the right decision. The decision that God intended and put the grandfathers of our family dogs back on the Endangered list. Thank you.

    • I don’t think these Judges in the Night District Court have hearts or minds – they are already sure of which way their decision will go – and look around – Tigers are just about extinct – I believe there are 30 of them remaining in the Wild that they know of – they are trying to breed them in Zoos and Sanctuaries – this is just plain wrong – Lions are just about gone and every year they try their best to slaughter Whales, Dolphins and most of all Baby Sealions or Seals – even though the demand for real fur has gone done because of public pressure –
What gets me they all got kids and grandkids – don’t they want a decent World for them??? They don’t think about tomorrow – all they can think off is looking down that scope and pull the trigger.

  14. Big surprise as if any of us ordinary people could do anything about it.. It hurts my heart that these beautiful creatures, who we really need for our eco-system, as wolves hunt and kill the sick and weak, are a necessary part of the way things work.
These polital men should be shot along with them or maybe …we could turn it around anfd have a Wolves..shot politiaans day
But seriously no one cares about the environment and the eco- system. I’ts just politics as usual.. The rich farmers don’t want them around and thats who foots their politicakl bill

  17. Can you tell me if the Nov 8th court hearing in Pasadena, Cal is open to the public? I understand a rally was thought to be detrimental, if held outside the courthouse. but can we enter and witness the hearing??? There;s a group of us who would make the trek to be there.

    • Tallulah I’m sure the court is open to the public but depending on the size of the courtroom the seating might be limited. On whether to hold a demo in front of the courthouse, I guess we’re all on pins and needles and don’t want anything to rock the boat concerning the judges decision to grant an emergency injunction. But I’m sure people will gather at the courthouse anyway.
