Killing Wolves For Fun….

UPDATE: NOVEMBER 2, 2011

6 more wolves have died since last night.  The death toll stands @ 145 (Idaho/99, Montana/46)

Who’s the predator who loves to kill for “sport”? Yes, you guessed it, man. And killing wolves for fun is happening with frightening speed in Idaho and Montana. On Halloween night the death toll stood @ 131, now it’s 139 ( Idaho/95 and Montana/44) , all in the name of blood lust.

Mike Thompson, a Montana FWP Wildlife Manager, thinks hunters, once they actually kill a wolf, are quite happy about it. He was quoted extensively in the Missoulian concerning the wolf hunt.

He opines:

“I don’t hear much about hunters being very happy with wolves until they get one and then they’re pretty darn happy just like they are when they get a deer or an elk,” he said. “In the long run, Montana’s going to have an additional hunting tradition that we didn’t have before.”

Well isn’t that just peachy? Another great hunting tradition, killing wolves for fun. I guess hunters can sit around the fire and reminisce about the beautiful animal’s life they snuffed out for a trophy or “just because I get a kick out of it”, take your pick.

The wolves of course have no choice in the matter because fish and game agencies have turned our wildlife into commodities for hunters to slaughter. Arrogant hunters can justify their carnage because it’s state sanctioned killing, so it must be OK, right? Wrong. Trophy hunting is barbaric, cruel and in no way a sport. The smiling pictures posted on the Internet of hunters lording over their dead victims is enough to make a person lose their lunch. I’ve always wondered what they are so damn happy about? Oh they’ve conquered a poor innocent animal with a high-powered rifle. How manly. That’s really something to be proud of.

Make no mistake, if it wasn’t for Obama and his minions selling out wolves and the ESA hunters wouldn’t be adding wolf hunting as a new tradition to their list of fun things to do on the weekend.

  2. Those who disrespect nature, disrespect themselves. Wolves are amazing creatures, who serve an important part in the cycle of nature. They must be protected & respected! Wolves have every right to live out their lives in peace as they were intended to by God & nature!

  3. yet if i went out and hunted down and killed these sadistic hunters that kill for sport, for no scientific reason, no need for food, just because i got a kick out of it, i’d be thrown in jail and executed! when will we learn that killing is killing? my disgust and disgrace at being human grows daily with each and every sick depraved thing we do to the enviroment and ALL the beautiful living things in it.

  4. 95 to 0. If this were a football game it would be a route, a mismatch, a slaughter…..and it is only the first quarter. While it is not a football game it is definitely a slaughterand . Where are those large and overly aggressive Canadian wolves? The ones that are a danger to domestic stock, pets, wildlife, and to the people of this otherwise fine State of Idaho. 95 wolves killed and not a hunter even scratched. To hate wolves is to fear them.

  5. There is no rational justification for decimating large numbers of animals that have historically been an important part of the ecosystem. Certain people seem to feel that any restriction on the “freedom to hunt” is unbearable. There is a lot of swaggering going on, on such websites as NRAhunterrights.org about how great it is to be able to kill wolves “en masse” again. There seems never to be a question that what they are doing is injurious on so many levels. The struggle to protect wildlife from the constant encroachment of humans can only be won by a change in attitudes. The “Howling for Justice” website is an excellent place to bring humane attitudes and action oriented information to the public. Destroying the web of nature will only bring about our own destruction. As go the wolves, so goes humankind.

  6. The worse predator is man. At least wolves kill to eat. But mankind kills for sport.

    • Not all of mankind. The problem is we need to find a way to stop the evil ones who do the killing for sport. Maybe together we can come up with a way to do this.

      • You just put your finger on the way ………….together, when the people pull together and act as one unit or body, that’s when changes are implicated. One person can’t do anything, but one and one and one and one and one can make a huge difference.

  8. So, Now America is not only a torture state for humans (waterboarding, Abu Grahib, etc,), it now kills tortures and kills Endangered Species. Who is next…Jews? People with brown eyes…people who love wolves…This holocaust must stop…God’s justice rain down on all torturers…

    • I think Jews were at the beginning of the queue, as were indigenous tribes. Look back in history, man is an evil specimen who has continuously murdered, raped, enslaved, tortured, penalized, butchered, and destroyed all in his wake. A lot of the time in the name of religion and civilization. How people have bought into it for so long is mind-blowing. Rise up, rise up, we, the people, together and take back our power – for good.

    • Dear God, please forgive me what I am about to write. I dislike each one of you who are killing the wolves. From the Governors, Politicians,Ranchers, sports hunters, FGWS and all othersa who are getting permits to kill wolves.
Dear God, I am very upset at these people for their killing of the wolves. I wish You could do something about this. In Jesus’ name I pray.

      • Barbara, it’s o.k. to dislike someone who murders and tortures innocent wild animals for fun. It’s not a personal vendetta, you hate what these people are doing, that’s all. I can feel you are a very sensitive, God abiding person who is very upset by all of this. God’s laws are universal, not man-made and there is a universal justice called karma and someday, these people will have to repay or live out these evil actions against humanity and the natural world. “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God”. To bring heaven and earth back together as it was in the days of Eden, we who love Jesus must become the word. And the animals need our word more than ever before because we must be the voice for the animals.

  11. These states, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and Alaska, have to be punished for slaughtering these wolves. The only way we can get them to stop, (and I have posted this about a thousand times) is to BOYCOTT these states. And I mean everything right down to Idaho Potato Buds. Every thing. No travel to these states..No Alaskan Cruises, No Yellowstone outings. I don’t think that people know what BOYCOTT means or they just can’t be bothered. They’re all talk, no walk. That bs doesn’t float. You can’t stick you head in the sand and expect the next guy to do it all. Everyone has to BOYCOTT everything from and about these states….until they stop killing the wolves. At this rate there won’t be any wolves left because people can’t be bothered. It’s too much of an inconvenience to pick up a different potato, go to another area for vacationing. My God…it’s like we’re asking them to cut off their right arms. BOYCOTT! BOYCOTT! BOYCOTT. Read the darn label on the back of the package before you buy it…and if you can read, ask someone in the store to read it for you. No shame in that. The only shame is buying something that will slaughter another wolf, leave the puppies to starve to death…or buy a box of ammo for an irate hunter/farmer.

    • Here, here, Anne, you tell em girl. I don’t live in America or go to any of these places, but if I did, I sure as hell would be right there in the boycott brigade. You are right though, people are apathetic when it comes down to actually stepping up front and doing something.

  12. Any and all wolf advocates please stand up for wolves by attending a Howl Across America Rally or an Occupy Rally.

    Like

    • Thank you Justin. We have to make more noise. Nobody is taking us seriously. I have repeated this one million times. Advocates don’t have to travel anywhere to protest the wolf hunts. Rallies can be organized in every state in the Union. It would be nice to coordinate them for certain days so we have a bigger impact but by all means whenever or wherever you are, get a piece of cardboard, a sharpie, call your friends, call the local media and let them know where you’ll be and have a protest. It’s really that simple.

The reason we’re not having an impact is because we have no presence out in the streets. Look how fast the Occupy Wall Street movement started, in just a few weeks it went around the world. We’ve been signing petitions, writing letters, calling Congress for almost three years and its still “crickets’. We should think like PETA, they know how to get media attention and that is what we are sorely lacking. The silence on this is deafening.

Anyone that can kill a living thing for fun is sick – mentally unstable and would not hesitate to kill a human without having a cause – I bet every one of them was taught how to kill by their proud Fathers at an early age – and boy when they got their first gently Deer – they were on their way –

  14. I still confuses me highly how people can go out, shoot any creature for “fun”, come back and wave it’s dead carcass around. Do they seriously think that they’re doing nothing wrong? Surely they must experience guilt, but I suppose, if they did, they would not go out and continue.

These people have no respect for nature, their view of it is a trophy just ready and waiting to claim. Not a beautiful creation there to enjoy and protect.

Hunting for “fun” is not a sport, for in one, both sides know that they’re in the game.

STOP COMPLAINING AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
i HAVE WRITTEN TO THE GOVERNORS OF IDAHO,MONTANA AND WYOMING. MONTANA’S GOVERNOR IS THE ONLY ONE TO WRITE BACK. HE SAID THAT THEY ARE UP AGAINST KEEPING THE WOLVES DOWN TO CERTAIN NUMBERS. I ASKED HIM WHY DON’T YOU MOVE SOME OF THEM WHERE THERE ARE NO WOLVES. HE DID NOT ANSWER THIS TIME.

  19. How well I remeber Robert Millage, the real estate broker/hunter, who killed the 1st wolf in 2009. He named her Sadie and skinned her alive because it thought it would be nice to have a wolf rug. That was the day I cut off all my hair in mourning for our wolves. I have signed every petition, written letters, made phone calls and more people need to start caring. SAVE THE WOLVES, THEY DO NOT DESERVE THIS SENSELESS SLAUGHTER

What gives these sick SOB’s the gall to think they have the right to kill off another species. You people make me sick, and I hope with all my heart that you have the misfortune of being on the receiving end of a pissed off wolf attack.
