  4. very moving. while watching the movie i happaned to see “living with wolves” there on the tube and watched it too. do you know what happened to the wolves in that project? because they placed them in the ne percee lands in north idaho thinking it is a safe place, but with all the killing now i wondered if it hurt them or the generations that followed them

    • I am from North Idaho and saw the movie years ago. If you are talking about the original pack….they lived their lives out on the reservation. However, no wolves are safe anywhere in Idaho now. If we are talking about the same film. That was filmed decades ago when Idaho paid to reintroduce the wolves. Beautiful film. In Ma. where I lived at the time they had calenders of “The Sawtooth Pack” and we were able to adopt a wolf. It was really cool. Today I am sure the people who helped would just die seeing what is happening out there now. Shame on Idaho. Pray for these beautiful animals.

  5. No words to express the grief and the sense of helplessness. For all its machinations, mankind is so very far from finding its proper place in this world. Thank you, Louise du Toit, for expressing something words alone cannot express.

  7. Its wonderful to leave a tribute for the wolves, but we all really need to contact our congressmen, & even president obama, you can e mail him here,,, info@barackobama.com Ken Salazar feedback@ioa.doi.gov BLM Bob Abbey Director@blm.gov
e mail them all & tell Obama that wild animals need another STEWARD , or care taker of the wild animals. Not just wolves, but wildmustangs which the blm is rounding up & treating inhumanly. Go to Is is bad enough for you?Wild horses you tube, & watch what they do to our wild animals. If we bombard them with letters, calls, & e mails, it will have to change.

  8. Such a beautiful voice to express the grief and loss we all feel. The sadness runs so deep for me when I think of over 500 wolf lives lost, and all in vain – those beautiful souls singing their message of Love in Heaven now. Thank you Louise du Toit for your lovely tribute.

    • Aren’t the Dutchers are still working in Idaho, trying to protect the wolves? They will send reports if you request. I do not believe their pack were ever restricted beyond the point where they could hunt on their own. Living With Wolves and the Wolf Conservation Center in upstate NY are two organizations that I know are very careful to maintain the wolves’ natural habits and surroundings so they will survive when released.

For instance, rural New York is overrun with deer, and road kill is often the sad result; local residents all are highly concerned with wolf preservation so will transport and toss these deer into the preserve’s acreage so that wolves can eat as they would in the wild. These wolves do not come in direct contact with humans unless they need veterinary care, for which they are tranquilized very briefly. There is a successful breeding program, and extensive public education. Release does not happen in killing states.

      • Dana…the last remaining wolf from the Sawtooth pack, lives at the WERC facility in Idaho. (Wolf Education Research Center). WERC also houses rescued wolves. The Wolf Conservation Center in NY is one of a few organizations in the US who raise critically endangered Mexican gray wolves, for eventual release into the wild in Arizona and New Mexico. This is called the Species Survival Plan and the USFWS Recovery Plan. They also raise Red wolves for the SSP and USFWS. Red wolves are critically endangered as well.

    • We’ve tried for almost three years orna to get the attention of a celeb. Jane Velez Mitchell has taken an interest and done several 5 minute blurbs on her show…but we need more. Unfortunately unless you know the celeb personally or their handlers there is no way to get through to them. I’m shocked and dismayed that so few if any of these celebs are speaking out for the wolves. Where are they on this? Where is Robert Redford, Leonardo Di Caprio? Why isn’t a celeb doing a video on the massacre in the Northern Rockies? Ashely Judd did a few videos for DOW but that was a year or so back. The wolves are being slaughtered and all we hear is “crickets”. The grass roots wolf movement and a few large orgs are speaking out. We have the Ninth Circuit lawsuit that is moving at a snails pace with no decision. The wolves have been abandoned by so many. But the grass roots movement will not abandon them, we are only getting stronger and stronger. Thank you orna for spreading the word in Israel!!

  15. People that kill or enjoye knowing that wolves and other creature are being killed are so disturbeb, so violent, that it is highly likely they are crazy, or at least have serious issues. A couple of night ago I posted my opinion about that sicko showing her kid how to enjoy killing wolves, and the couple of responses I got were close ended and so full of hate and ofenses, and I saw that they answer in the same way to anybody that dares to criticize their brutality. It’s obvious, for me at least, that they hurt the wonderful creatures, cuz they can’t hurt other ppl without being punished. Theyso full of it, that is not that they really believe all the crap they use as excuses to kill wolves, they just want to hurt the them, and have a good time with the pain and sadness that all this situation is causing for some humans.
I just don’t get this world, those crazy bastards and the ppl that just don’t care about it. I wish wolves were respected everywere, all poor animals, I really don’t know what will become of the world.

    • Farah…you can’t reason with these people. Many grew up in families that did the same things they are doing now. They don’t see animals as sentient beings, they see them as something to be used and abused at their pleasure. Trying to change their minds about what they are doing is a useless endeavor. It’s better to try and work to change existing laws that allow the abuse of our native wildlife then to try to talk the animal killers out of what they are doing. Just my two cents.

  17. I nearly cried watching the tribute. But I agree, our mission as living beings is to seek out the truth. We have to find the strength to wake the rest up and put an end to this slaughter once and for all. I will write to the governors and continue my boycott on Idaho as well as the other “anti-wolf” states and if we here all do the same… we could save an entire species from extinction. If we pull this off (and I’m confident we can) we will forever be on the right side of history

  18. Dear Nabeki, thank you so much for sharing “Ode to Magnificence”. I also want to express my sincere gratitude for all of the inspiring comments towards my video. I am honored to be able to use my voice and music skills to raise awareness for the plight of these truly magnificent beings, which surpass mankind in many ways, and certainly in integrity. WE WILL NOT REST until we change every misconception of humans towards our persecuted wolf brothers and sisters, and until they are all delivered from their immense suffering, safe and free to roam the earth as it is intended to be.
