Idaho County Sheriff Doug Giddings says the SSS raffle stands for “Safety, Security and Survival” not” Shoot, Shovel and Shut Up“, a term used to describe poaching wolves and then getting rid of the evidence by burying them and keeping quiet about it.
So why is the Sheriff of Idaho County holding a shovel? Is it for burying the truth about what’s really going on in that picture? Inquiring minds want to know? We were born in the dark but it wasn’t last night!!
When officers of the law seem to be mocking killing wolves illegally you know the entire situation in Idaho is going to hell in a hand-basket.
===
Idaho County Sheriff”s photo with shovel angers wolf advocates
Idaho County Sheriff Doug Giddings told the Lewiston Tribune in March 2011 when the photo was first posted that the SSS in the raffle for a .308 rifle was not shoot, shovel and shut up, as the traditional answer to solving the wolf problem is portrayed in the rural West.
Instead, he said it stands for “safety, security and survival,” the Associated Press reported. So now this picture (from left, Giddings with shovel, rifle winner Norm Sonnen of Greencreek, and Undersheriff Jim Gorges), which they posted on Facebook, has gone viral. Wolf advocates aren’t getting the joke.
I don’t trust that messed up smile… never have.
It is sick, twisted and full of lies.

R.N. Stands for Red Neck behavior. Is the whole state of Idaho this way?? I did see a BILLBOARD in a truck, saying save the wolves & it’s through Environmental Action. You may see it on UTube. It’s a start, but I e mail Ken Salazar often, but never get a response back??

you got that one right~ there’s nothing funny about murdering innocent & helpless animals-just ignorance at it’s highest level.

This is all so disgusting and disturbing. Can anyone tell me the WHY of all of this?
LikeLike
The why is because these men are cowards. They can’t face a wolf as equals; no gun, no traps. These small men have to lure them in and then use a weapon to kill because they are too fearful to meet what they call an enemy face to face on equal ground. Too bad that their manhood is completely wrapped up in how many wolves they slaughter. I guess that is what happens when you’re uneducated and insecure. How proud those men must be to have an unfair advantage over a helpless animal. I can only imagine how they treat the women in their lives.

Abbey. I wish I could explain why. Other than “money is the root of all evil”. Their minds have been poisoned by big money interests. But what makes each individual choose evil ways is beyond me. They should just all be kept in isolation somewhere. So they don’t infect anyone further. Forjan

A picture is worth a thousand words. If there is a public awareness and the citizens of Idaho know the truth behind this picture, they should be able to have these people removed from their positions. It is an out rage that public officials can do things like this and get away with it. So sad that we fight to save our precious animals and the evil, underhanded morons can get away with these kind of things.

I am so sick of that self-satisfied, smug grin from the hunters. Under no circumstances should killing be funny. To be proud of killing innocent animals reveals what hunter culture really is–revolting and sadistic.

Agreed! How ignorant, blood-thirsty, disgraces of humanity like him got into office in the first place is beyond me. We can’t let people like that have power over us. As far as I’m concerned, everyone who takes part in this wolf cull is a threat to the environment.

Don’t forget to routinely check ebay auction sites for hides and mark inappropriate so they will be investigated. Since there has been documented non-enforcement of poaching (all creatures) in MT and ID in several newspaper citations, and we know that UF FWS is on the take from RMEF… making the economic reward for illegal poaching is appropriate.

Did anyone notice how the plaque has a guy pointing a rifle at the wolf? Silly gun-toting-rednecks , how stupid do you think we are?

Yes, I noticed.
I also see the Elk behind him, and it looks like he’s going to charge and flip the hunter over with that big rack of his. Ha!
Oh by – these guys are pretty bold now.

What came to mind was “BOOM, headshot” and then some low life laughing about how “awesome”, “cool”, or god forbid “manly” it was to kill an innocent creature. Sorry, but there’s nothing “manly” about contributing to the torture and slaughter of innocent animals. It’s actually selfish, scary, and barbaric.

Many of you have me laughing at your comments so cute and a great release in light of all Idaho wolf hate.
I figure their “safety, security and survival” motto just shows me what true cowards they all are. They are all afraid of the big bad wolf who in reality wants nothing to do with man- but does not hate him either.
Look at what these Idaho lawmen spend their time doing.

Doesn’t the Idaho have an obligation to investigate these men if we make enough noise? At the very least this is inappropriate conduct at the most they are complicit in either the commission of a crime or in the encouragement of crime – the exact opposite of their stated mission and sworn oath to uphold the law.
In any business I’ve ever been in, taking action that is specifically contradictory to the interests of the business would be grounds for termination with cause. Encouraging poaching clearly falls under this definition. How do we get the AG in Idaho to look into this?

What does it take for humans of this mindset to leave space for the wild? Check out “Radioactive Wolves”. A sad commentary but a respite of sorts.

Oh, please! Do they really think that the rest of the world has the backwoods mentally like they do? What idiots! TheSheriff…he’s a joke, even for a human being. It’s hard to believe that slime like that live on this planet. The world would be so much better if they crawled back under their rocks and shoved their guns appropriately. So sick of these liars. Shooting innocent animals so they can feel like men. What a sorry bunch!

If it was for a gun raffle then why the shovel? If it was for a raffle, who or where did that shadow picture come from and why is the ‘hunter’ pointing his gun at the wolf image, rather than the elk? Seems pretty clear that they think this is funny and can hide behind calling it something else. It is what it is. More propoganda to kill wolves and smile about it. Bastards.

Pictures do indeed provide thousands of words. However, for those words to be recognized and understood, one has to have been taught to read. Others can’t read because of the ton of commercial dollars thrown their way to simply go along with ill conceived programs or plans. When it comes to Sec. Ken Salazar it’s a combination of refusing to read when and where the price is right!!! He does this with the Yellowstone, Montana and N.D./S.D. buffalo, as well as with the wild Mustangs and burros. It’s a shame knowing that our president has refused time after time to exhibit more oversight into the activities of his Sec. of the Interior. Everybody loses, including the misguided killers who proudly think of themselves as skilled hunters!!!

Idaho needs everyone to write articles to their “letters to the editors” local papers. Trapping is at an all time high and is catching not only the wolves but tons of wildlife and domestic dogs also.
We need to wake up Idaho…….Even though our congressman will not pay any attention to calls and letters until their offices are bombarded with them…….this is what we have to do to pull together for the wolf.

‘The report was followed by hearings, another critical federal review in 1971, unflattering press and an executive order by President Richard Nixon banning poison for federal predator control. “The time has come for man to make his peace with nature,” Nixon said in a statement at the time.’
But yet we’re still at it, using methods from WWI! It’s pretty bad when our own gov’t agency is almost as bad as the poachers. This has to stop.

A big part of the problem is the type of people in power. The type of person who seeks power is already a person who will do whatever it takes to get it. Once they have power they will do what ever it takes to keep it, i.e. get money, take and give money to people who in return look after their interests, turn a blind eye, introduce family and friends who are then on the same path. And you are left with a vicious circle where no one cares for much past their own lifetime. Getting power is nothing compared to trying to keep it. Another part of the problem is that decent people who you would happily have running things don’t want to get involved in what they see as a dirty way to make a living. And who would blame them, not me for one. As for solutions, at the moment all i can think of is to keep plugging away and as numbers grow maybe change can be made possible.
