  1. trapping is the worst kind of killing that cause so much pain to A ANIMAL and I hope you will stop the cruel way of hunting. As a tax payer I want this blood sport to stop. You can have someone on your staff to show you video’s of a animal in a trap and see for your self.

  3. Bless you. Thank you for sharing. How deeply the ones who have fallen to barbaric slaughtering are missed. That loss, that sadness, that emptiness cannot be expressed in words, only that one’s tears and one’s spirit will keep looking for them. I have sent signed petitions by certified mail to the White House, gov. of Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, all the senators and assemblymen in Idaho. Many of us have called, written, phoned these places. There must be a way we can stop this injustice. If anyone has any new ideas, count me in. I will do what I can. I cannot travel, due to illness, but that won’t stop me from fighting. Dear St. Francis, please keep Romeo safe. God bless and thank you.

    • Caitlin, I am pretty involved in the wolf stuff happening here in the SW and suggest Wild Earth Guardians because they are spearheading fighting against trapping in New Mexico and the state game and fish just allocated $385,000 to fight them. Some of the wolves here are tripods and theres only 57 in 4.4 million acres, some of which is on fire in the Gila right now. Defenders of Wildlife dropped the ball long ago.

  5. Obviously the hunters don’t know the meaning of the words compassion and empathy. If they asked themselves how they would feel caught in a trap or snare, they might not be so eager to cause pain and suffering to the wolves or other animals. The hunters seem to be stuck on a branch of evoluation that hasn’t made it far enough. The legislators just don’t care as long as they are not hurt themslves, and they don’t want to get on the wrong side of the NRA.

  6. It is time for us to gang up on Wikipedia. Check out their entries on the subject of wolves and wolf hunting and poisoning, count the errors, rate the articles…PLEASE. There’s a lot of historic fable that favors the killings. They must be denied financial support from their users, for one thing.

    • Anyone can edit the Wikipedia. Just create an account and correct the errors. Wikipedia’s over 3.9 million articles in English have been written collaboratively by volunteers around the world. Almost all of its articles can be edited by anyone with access to the site, and it has about 100,000 regularly active contributors. It reaches far and wide and an article to show the truth about wolf hunting, trapping, and poisoning might have a real impact.

    • Those bozos are trying to catch up to China, where according to a new book title, “They Eat Dogs.” Seriously, cowardice and brutality will be the new order of the day if we do not stop both the democratic leadership and the tea party. Might it help to appeal to the republicans’ historic traditions, such as establishing the National Park system and the Endangered Species Act? See Thomas Friedman’s editorial in the NY Times June 3: “G(reen)OP?”.

  9. I personally think that all government parties should mind their own business.. INSTEAD OF GETTING THE WOLVES INVOLVED, they have gobe too far wheb it means satisfying their interests even to wipe clean whole ecosystems along with their species, the budget bill approving thus slaughter was supported by nothing else than haters and hunters whi enjoy spilling the blood of the innocent, the government just showed a happy face when they saw the profit they would get from hunters if they delisted wolves…and all this people even dared to say in some blogs that wolves were breeding like rabbits and should be managed in the act…which more than likely convince the majority of ignorants as a fact to cover the real slaughter that has been happening this months….I’m really tired of watching every beautiful portrait of a wolf and the excruciating feeling always inside me saying: “is this beautiful wolf still alive?” it’s horrible to think that such a beautiful creature portrayed in that calendar ir website could be right now in agony of a gunshot or trap..If they don’t want the wolves there, why don’t they give them to places where they are respected and loved? relocate them…I don’t mind having a wolf as a neighbor….

    • I think they would be welcome in Massachusetts. The absence of a top predator lead to an overpopulation of deer that creates havoc in the woods. Hunting is not big here either, people are in general highly educated and nature oriented.

  12. “In the Company of Wolves” reminds me of findings by Scientist Farley Mowat. Mowat conducted research for the U.S. govt. re: Wolves “killing many caribou” by living with them for 1 year, 1983. Mowat found Wolves only take down 1 Caribou because of the energy needed, then share the Caribou w/ their Clan. Wolves survive mainly on Mice, & voles. Wolves live as a nuclear family w/ Alpha male and female breeding and raising young and am immature wolf helps w/ raising pups. The family lives w/i a larger community of wolves all working to get a sole caribou for the entire community.
Wolves respect humans by keeping distance unless provoked to defend themselves.
I wish I could live where they do, because they are more stable than humans as a species.

  13. Wow. They are so wondrous. It makes you wonder how any one could harm them. They are so majestic and beautiful. Entirely Awe worthy. It makes my heart cry out to them. To me they definitely show the true heart of the wild. The pure beauty and power. A power not expressed in words but in expressions and feelings. Simply divine.

    • The fall hunting season will be here before we know it. This kind of babbling is useless for the wolves. I was hoping we would organize a big rally in Washington in early fall, when the summer recess is over, or do something, anything to help the wolves. It is clear by now that petitions, emails, phone calls, letters to those in power are not working. Same with prayers and pep talk.

Help us run a special edition wolf newsletter

Our goal is to produce and distribute a special edition wolf newsletter this summer. However, it will require more pages, more color images and a larger printing than ever before. Our newsletter will ask these critical questions:

•What is happening to all the people who illegally kill wolves?
•How can we increase the penalties for killing wolves?
•Where are the best potential new wolf recovery zones and why can’t we get direct releases in our state?
•What role does our congressional delegation play in getting wolves on the ground and ignoring the distortions of those who will never support wolves in the wild?
Please support this special newsletter by giving now. In the comments field, please indicate “Wolf Newsletter.”

Please everyone, don’t give up. Make choices every moment to help this Earth!
