  1. THIS is just blatantly DISGUSTING and SICKENING! Mankind won’t stop until EVERYTHING is destroyed on this planet….including sucking the resources from this planet…. Karma will visit them all… We all reap what we sow

    • I cannot think of words bad enough to describe the substandard human beings responsible for the death of that poor wolf. They degrade this planet by their presence, and I only wish they had never been born. Yes, one can hope and pray for karma–punishment for the killers and justice for the wolves, both in this world and the next.

  2. unbelievable, horrific, and so disappointed in the wolf hating States. How does one educate those with such hate, especially when those in control, don’t care, or advocate such hate! There is such a mindset in Idaho, where i live. To where it seems their brains are calcified!

But let us be realistic, states do not seem to care at all for wolves, their extinction would not trouble them, those in power do not give a damn as well…they do not care about us either…IF THIS CONTINUES, WOLVES WILL PERISH..They don’t care..So what will stop them from exterminating them all even those in parks and sanctuaries, behold! DON’T DOUBT THEM CAPABLE OF BANNING WOLVES FROM THE ENTIRE COUNTRY!! THEY CAN!! AND BY THE LOOKS OF THIS THEY MIGHT….

  7. I do hope that if President Obama is re-elected to a second term, he will replace Ken Salazar. In the second term he shouldn’t be as beholden to those idiots in Congress, and so I hope he will have more freedom to make the right decisions regardling our wildlife and wild lands. But I won’t bet on it. 😦

    • Beyond “delisting”….we at the very least must get those traps and snares OUTLAWED! Create those buffer zones. Mandate ranchers to comply with predator-friendly rules and regulations for protecting their livestock AND keep them the hell out of National Forests and OFF public lands for non-compliance. The entire process is an abomination and for whatever reasons they are allowed are NOT acceptable.

  9. I hope that that is true that Obama, when re-elected, will replace Salazar and relist wolves and ban traps/snares and have grazing allotments retired unless the rancher agrees to work with a conservationist and hire range riders and never has the authority/abillity to have a wolf killed or relocated……I will post the letter after I write it and send it….in the interim here is another petition to relist wolves that I signed (strength in numbers):

    http://links.causes.com/s/clEqBs?r=432Z

whoever posted about going to remove traps.snares…..please do it and please those of you who are in states where this is happening….please do it…..I’m in CA and have no way of getting there…..would suggest removing the traps/snares and bringing them to a news station to get some publicity about what’s going on…..

    • Nikki…I wouldn’t hold my breath about Obama doing anything positive for wolves. Salazar is the head of the Interior because Obama wants him there. I don’t think the President gives one whit about wolves. He has allowed hundreds of wolves to be slaughtered and continue to be slaughtered under his watch and has done absolutely nothing. He signed the wolf delisting rider bill into law. Obama is a failure on wolves, wild horses. The USFWS under his watch wouldn’t even classify the most endangered animal in North America, the Mexican gray wolf, as a separate sub-species. which means if Obama’s Interior Department goes through with their threats to delist wolves in the lower 48, Mexican grays would lose their federal protection.

The second part of the letteremail (that starts after the statement that this is the letter I sent to the wh) is what I sent to the Pres on the three links I have to contact him …..fyi….I will keep on doing this until wolves are relisted and traps banned…..

WHY DOES THE MEDIA IGNORE THE ATROCITIES BEING PERPETUATED AGAINST OUR WILD LIFE AGAINST OUR WILL? IF YOU WOULD COVER THE GENOCIDE, THERE WOULD BE A SUFFICIENT PUBLIC OUTCRY THAT WOULD FORCE THE CHANGE WE NEED/DEMAND!

PLEASE GIVE VOICE TO THE VOICELESS!

WOLVES ARE BEING BRUTALLY AND SADISTICALLY TORTURED AND SLAUGHTERED!!

THIS IS MY LETTER THAT I SENT TO THE WH:

Thousands of us voted for you before. We feel betrayed. WOLVES ARE BEING BRUTALLY SADISTICALLY TORTURED AND KILLED WHEN THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE IN THIS DEMOCRACY WANT THEM PROTECTED!!!!!

PLEASE DO A WRIT TO RELIST WOLVES IMMEDIATELY!

STATES ARE NOT MANAGING THEM – THEY ARE FAST TRACKING THEM TO EXTINCTION WITH MALICE!

Please replace Salazar with someone who will do what the majority of us want. We want the privatization of our public lands to stop/be rescinded. Retire/rescind grazing permits for livestock/ Do not allow logging of old growth forests. mining or drilling for gas. oil or minerals on public lands. THOSE ARE ALL PRIVATE INDUSTRY. NO PRIVATE INDUSTRY ON PUBLIC LANDS!

Please ban traps and snares (90 countries do). Why are we, a supposed Judaeo/Christian country, still using these barbaric sadistic devices of torture? THEY ARE FELONY ANIMAL CRUELTY!

Please RELIST WOLVES and STOP THE ROUNDUPS OF HORSES ON PUBLIC LANDS AND THEIR SUBSEQUENT SALE TO SLAUGHTER! THIS IS GENOCIDE OF WOLVES AND HORSES FOR PROFIT BY PRIVATE INDUSTRY ON PUBLIC LANDS!

My Dad, a German Jew, who left Nazi Germany for the USA at age 22 in Nov 37 raised me that if I witnessed something wrong. I HAD TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT or I was complicit (condoning it). I am WITNESSING SOMETHING WRONG – GENOCIDE OF WOLVES AND WILD HORSES……the USFWS, (Idaho Montana Wyoming FWS. & Forest Services, MN & WI FWS & DNR, WA FWS. • Republicans are even worse than Democrats when it comes to protecting animals. The real problem is that wolves can’t vote, they don’t have any money to donate, and therefore have no power–unlike the NRA and the hunting groups. I wish that all of us who care about the wolves and wish them well had power equal to our concern.

  11. We all would like to see the wolves relisted and protected once again…me personally….and no Im not condoning this..well actually i do …but I am not saying everyone should do it….but people who have exotic animals…A LOT of people are against it..and yes SOME have reasons ..but if you look at it from an exotic persons point of view…The animals they have that should be wild…really are better off with that person or persons…because in the wild they would be tortured and or slaughtered for fun…So in reality they are protected from such harm and stupidity in a persons care…I myself love wolves…they are my favorite animal…i have lived with 4 and have owned 3..one a wolfdog…and my latest one is a high content …and if you raise them right..right space food shelter..they are perfect for home life…yes not all are perfect …each animal is different …but they are very intelligent animals and know what they want…..Anyways back to the subject…Even if the wolves were relisted and protected….that will not stop ranchers or hunters from poaching them…we all know they do it …and they wont stop if the wolves were to get relisted…well i havent given up on wolves but i dont see them getting relisted anytime soon…the govenrment is trying to wipe them out completely so they cant be brought back and repopulated again..its all a stupid act to try to keep them down in population…and its working look how many wolves have died wrongfully just to satisfy stupid people in office..the only way we will get justice for the fallen wolves and freedom and safety for the suffering wolves alive today is contact every news station and tv station with the story of the wolves and what is happening behind the scenes of the slughter…show people the graphic videos of the animals being shot down like vermin…And offer rewards for the turn in of poachers…to stop their brutal killings..get some people together a huge group and start sending the letters to our so called president…and other higher power and eventually we should get somewhere…hopefully well be able to stop these barbarians before they kill off our beloved wildlife ….

    • Timothy, for the sake of brevity, I must respond to your comment with: I believe that ONLY wild animals that are RESCUED should be kept in captivity. To intentionally purchase a wild animal to satisfy one’s personal needs I do not condone as it only perpetuates the breeding of wild animals and provides a market for them. And even in these situations the accomodations MUST be appropriate for each species. Despite being born in captivity, they are still inherently wild and it is all too easy to attempt justification for keeping them when their natural instincts are not a primary consideration.
I think most of us would agree with your ideas about seeking justice for this wanton killing esp of predator species like wolves, coyotes, etc. It’s your “get some people together….” thought that is so appealing , but…HOW? You are right, that is exactly what we need, but easier said than done. That is why I’m thinking that if we have memberships in a couple of the larger organization such as HSUS (who along with HFJ and other groups) is now suing the state over the wolf hunt. If enough of their membership appeals to them to “do something!” for the wolves and others, they are obligated to listen and to act. Let’s compare it to the NRA who is only too happy to comply with what their members (hunters, etc) want them to do. And they do it. And so far have been very successful.
If we could find the top 4 or 5 wildlife advocacy/environmental groups who have have a legitimate record of WORKING for predator and general wildlife’s benefit….we could mutually agree to join them (via membership) and then insist they speak for us and work on our behalf. It always helps to secure a specific contact in these organizations to see what their immediate plans are.

      • I hear hat your saying..but i was not talking about having everyone go out and buy wild animals and condone to breeding…I myself have not purchased such animals…I came by my animal saphira from a friend who knew a family for generations that have bred them …. but then decided to quit but could not send their animals to sanctuaries because some refused to take on so many…so for the first time they had given them to reputable people with knowledge of the animal species…and right accomodations ….. that is how i have become a very good owner….but i am not saying lets go rally them up and keep them as pets but if i may say this…..wolves and wolfdogs have gained a very bad reputation to be violent and murderous creatures to animals outside there pack…or family..my saphira had never been near a cat or ferret before …and she did not grow up around them…she met them once…had an issue for a split second…i told her no….just words…she never tried to hurt them again..now she plays with the cat and sleeps with her and the ferret….but not just one account that i know of…the family found her from all of them loves small animals esp. cats …gerbils and squirrels…. never hurt them or tried to eat them…but anyways what i was saying was this…the ones that are lucky enough to be in captivity are safe from a torturous killing spree……

    • I agree with what you say. The human population is the one that needs to be controlled. Some animals, including wolves now, may be better off in sanctuaries (I have sponsored many in a number of places). I also agree that news outlets have been remiss in not reporting more on the slaughter of the wolves. However, I’m sure few would tell the whole truth and show the terrible pictures of the dead wolves. People do not like to be upset even if that means animals continue to suffer horribly. The Internet may be the best option for showing the true state of affairs–no sponsors there to stop graphic pictures and no aaudience to complain about being disturbed at the bloodshed.

TV magazine articles news paper photos .. reports.. lots of pictures..even if a few are made aware they can spread the word… too many people are simply unaware their conscience should be awakened. We are in danger of altering the ecological balance. not to mention the low life who take pleasure in inflicting suffering and demonizing the wolf. Pity them for their stupiditity and wickedness.

  17. Sorry, but I just have to correct one thing: (as of Oct. 30, 2012) you wrote that 10 wolves were slaughtered in Wyoming’s Predator Zone (I’m assuming you base that number off of the number of wolves killed that was not counted towards the quota that is listed in the WY Wolf Summary 2012 on the WGFD’s website). Out of those 10 non-quota wolves killed, only 6 were slaughtered in the Predator Zone; the other 4 are listed under the “Other Mortality Not Counted Towards Quota” section of the Wolf Summary 2012.These four wolves were taken within the Trophy Hunting Zone, but were not actually harvested in the hunt; they, assumingly, are either non-target mortality or were killed for depredation control (as to why WGFG posts this when it doesn’t count towards the quota or affects the hunt I do not know). I have no problem with adding these four to the memorial (and I think that they should be remembered), but please do not list them as being shot-on-sight in the Predator Zone when they were not (this is inaccurate, and if we want to stop the killing then we have to present the wolf death statistics accurately).

    • Is that of any use? Should we be counting our lost wolves like vegetables to be harvested? It’s exactly the same results, our innocent wolves are being slaughtered..They are ONLY using the term “quota” to make us think they are handling this “responsibly” they CAN kill as much wolves as they want and please let us not doubt that many other wolves have been secretly murdered deep in the lonely forest..For did you think that those wicked of mind that did not “win” a permit would have just stayed sitting there, without them aching to satisfy their blood lust?

      Like

      • In terms of management, the statistics are important. But from an animal rights/welfare perspective, you are right; it doesn’t matter how or where, as it all results in the same ultimate conclusion: the tragic lose of innocent wolf lives. Let’s not worry about the details; I’ll just keep the obsession over details to myself, and focus on what is really important: the numbers killed in each state and the total number that have been killed.

I’m sorry for freaking out over the details. As I told Nabeki, I have been having a horrible week. I had a math test, which worried me all week long because my teacher expects us to do the questions quickly, and although I’m extremely good at math I have a problem with doing it quickly. In addition to that I’ve had a ton of essays and speeches to write this week for my classes. And, on top of all that, my relatives have been caught in Hurricane Sandy, which worries me very much. Thankfully they are ok, but still, who knows what would of happened.

I am very well aware that hunters who don’t get a license will be out in the woods killing wolves anyway. Not that this is anything new; this happened when wolves were on the endangered list (in fact, just recently 2 red wolves were murdered). I would not be surprised if even hunters with permits will be killing more wolves than the permits allow. Now, hopefully the Dept. of Fish and Game (or whatever the wildlife agency is called in the state) will prosecute hunters that do this, as that is poaching – which is illegal – and the Dept. of Fish and Game tend to be very determined in stopping poachers. Of course, if the tragic fate of Journey’s brother, Wolf OR-9, tells us anything…it’s that wolf poaching is not taken very seriously (which is tragic, as the Dept. of Fish and Game is responsible for conservation, and poaching is a major threat to biodiversity worldwide). If you ever suspect wolf poaching (or any poaching, for that matter), tell the Dept. of Fish and Wildlife immediately! I know that it won’t bring back the lives of the poached wolves, but at least it can help prevent some wolf deaths in the future, which is better than not trying to prevent the deaths at all.

  18. Carla….The predator zone wolf deaths are posted at the bottom of the column OTHER MORTALITY, The four other wolves listed in that column are not included in that count and even if they were your hair splitting over dead wolves is annoying. The point of posting these numbers, is to remind people that wolves are losing their lives every day.The numbers I posted are accurate.

Besides the number of wolves destroyed in the killing zone is more like 50 not 10. They don’t need a license and don’t have to report killing a wolf for ten days if they ever decide to bother.

      .

The climate is already in crisis. It is human caused. To deny that is like standing on train tracks with a train barrelling at you full speed and not move off of the tracks. There will be no world no trees/plants and no animals if we don’t stop the train now! Looking for new places to drill for fossil fuels is not only bad because it is adding to the fossil fuel problem, it means killing whales and dolphins because of the airguns used to locate where to drill. I believe in science and I worship God. THOU SHALT NOT KILL! So looking for where to drill is a non starter in and of itself. We have a serious problem with letting our public lands and wild lilfe be destroyed by private industries….whether it is gas, logging, mining or grazing non native cattle. NONE OF THESE SHOULD OCCUR ON PUBLIC LANDS! We are currently in a genocide of wolves and a pogrom of horses against the will of the majority of people in this supposed democracy. THE DOI, USFWS and BLM are the NAZIS and the WOLVES are the JEWS and the HORSES are the GYPSIES!
