This is an excellent video! Brooks Fahy and the others express a truth that we don’t often hear. We do not need to manage or hunt wolves and other predators at all, the public has been brainwashed to think so by hunters and state agencies. This is a false belief that needs to be exposed. I hope this video is spread widely, I’ll do my part to share it.

This is a wonderful film, people will only realize when the tourist money dries up. Yellowstone hires many people to work for them on such things as guided tours and lodging, when this dries up you will see the BLM sing a different tune. The word must get out about the slaughter.

I have seen this video and downloaded it to my phone..I must say that this portrais most of this tragedy in one of the most succinct of ways. I am looking forward to use it in a presentation at school (giving credit to the author of course) so hopefully I can further spread awareness and make the idiotic hunters’ bloodshed go pandemic.. Thanks Nabeki for sharing.

I agree with everyone above–this is an outstanding video that makes all the good points, including that deer and elk to not exist just for hunters! Marc Bekoff made the point that is so significant for those of us who are passionate wolf advocates but who feel we can’t get anything done. Bekoff notes that when people are reminded that the wolves they saw and admired in Yellowstone, etc., are being hunted and killed they think it it is too bad, but “they don’t do a damn thing about it.” Exactly! We do not have the numbers or the political or financial power of the hunters and the ranchers. We are lacking in numbers. Even with protests, whether against the killing of wolves or against other animal abuse, the protesters are usually so few that they send the message their voices don’t count.
I would like to suggest one thing for whatever it is worth–maybe we should join other causes that are fighting for similar results. For example, the Buffalo Field Campaign has a number of petitions on its website, including one to protect public lands from cattle grazing. I signed that and other petitions for the bison because they are having similar problems to the wolves–they are considered to be in the way and are being hunted and killed. The same may be said for wild horses. All involve animals being harmed and destroyed for hunters and ranchers. Maybe if we united for multiple causes we could both help other animals and the wolves in the process.

Hi Marcia, I too agree with you and others that the video is outstanding. For me, it is always heartwarming to read pro-wolf views. I am not sure if we, the protesters against wolf hunting and other wildlife/animal abuses, are in the minority. Does anyone know what sort of figures and percentages are involved in the pro/anti wolfhunt debate? Even if we are a little short on numbers, that still should not deter us from acting… every little helps as they say! Your suggestion about joining forces with other camps such as the bison and wild horses, is extremely good… as you say, there is a common problem.
I would also just like to say thank you to Brooks, George, Marc and Bob for their part in making this video, and to Nabeki for sharing it. I hope to re-share it as far and wide as possible – it is a must-see!

Yes, you are absolutely right this is exactly why they are being killed..a small minority wants more land for cheap cattle grazing…and the real cost of a hamburger.? a wolf

“Hunters” have made themselves to appear respectable in society, when in reality they are blood thirsty perverts. They must be prosecuted for animal cruelty.

Nicely done! I agree with what was said in the video. I am a Native American(Chinook/Quinault, Washington State) and have always been taught that wolves are never something to hunt! Since the beginning of time, we worked together, wolf and man. We had a respect for each other. We still do. I want to apologize, even though I am not a member of the Colville tribe, for the actions they have taken in deciding to hunt wolves. Perhaps they have forgotten their ways. Perhaps they didn’t listen to their elders. I half expect it from the government, but not from the indigenous peoples. I am heart sick over it.

I don’t understand it either..I had always understood that the Native American people were the ones to walk with the wolves. And treat them with respect and love. Now they are like the hunter (non native) who takes the wolves life for a trophy? and to destroy? something is really strange about this decision.

Thank you so much, Nabeki for keeping us up and informed and giving us the impetus to keep on working toward a place for our wild brothers. Wildlife Guardians who have a link here, sent me the following: Thought your readers might find it interesting.
“When we shared with you that Wyoming had 4,400 hunters stalking Wyoming’s dwindling population of what was 330 wolves, and shooting Yellowstone’s beloved wolves, you responded overwhelmingly to our action email. “Yellowstone’s Wolves Deserve Better” asked Wyoming and Montana officials to establish a buffer zone around Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks and nearly 6,500 of you responded, sending a powerful statement to those decision-makers. In addition to your actions, and thanks to Montana wolf advocacy groups doing direct action work, on Monday Montana wildlife commissioners finally closed down the wolf season in some areas outside Yellowstone National Park giving some wolves at least temporary reprieve. The fight for wolves in Montana and Wyoming is far from over and we continue to look for opportunities to save and protect these special animals.

Excellent video, these hunters have got to be stopped, Fish & Game/Wildlife is a public agency that is run by a private interest group, they are very corrupt and sick humans, we (tax payers) supplement these hunters with the “Share Program”, that might be the area of legality that is on our side..I would like to see an aggressive move of strategy for a different kind of lawsuit or campaign to just get rid of the Fish and Wildlife all together from the budget..

The wolf spirit lives in the mountains up high
Its grandeur is endless, it can touch the sky

Maybe we need to look to Costa Rica. That country just banned hunting in order to preserve their natural wildlife, which is tied directly to tourism money. Way to go, Costa Rica!!

I sent a letter with pictures to Sherrod Brown, Betty Sutton, Zacch Portman, and James Renacci . I also sign every petition.

Thank you … So much for your work. It is very true re our wildlife … The government is exterminating all our wildlife so the ranchers and oil/ gas folks can have the land .. Our public land held in trust for our wild life not our wild dead .
At change.org I have a petition called “stopped killing us” re wolves .. Please sign and pass on to everyone. I have targeted the officials responsible. When Pres Clinton was president Bruce Babbitt was sec of interior And he was excellent. Unfortunately, Ken Salazar, our current secretary is a rancher which seems like a conflict of interest . We absolutely need a new sec of interior, as this position is hugely important to our wildlife and our planet. This issue of tve secretary needs to be addressed and petitioned immediately !

Excellent, informative video. How sad that man had to hunt in order to feel superior to other beings. One scene in this video that really touched me was when the hunter shot the wolf at close range, and as the wolf was dying, it wagged its tail. I wanted to cry! I will share this video with others. Thank you!

Time has come to present the numbers, est. 2-5% society actually are hunters, yet they are the ones making all the decisions in “Wildlife Management”, 1st step is to make sure that every board/commission in each state has at least equal number of anti-hunters and WE need to form our own board of Volunteer Wildlife Experts to oversee all states as each state presents their sick plan of murder, all volunteer members work on each of their pre-determined tasks, as to stay completely focused. I will see if “C.A.S.H. has the numbers already in a database, otherwise all the info is at the State Fish/Game website, also, need to join forces with the Horse people..the BLM and Fish & Wildlife/Game take orders from the “special interest” groups that want all animals and people out of their way for their private oil pipelines, truth! Who else wants to help with collecting data?

Magnificent wolf video; one of the best I’ve seen in a while. They make a really good point on how predator management by the Fish and Game Agencies is reflected by how they earn their revenue from hunting and trapping licenses and of how their management of wildlife is reflected by the desire to provide game and fur-bearers for hunters and trappers. Wildlife management needs to be based on ecological health, not to provide as much game as possible for hunters. This means not harming social interactions between individuals of a species in addition to maintaining healthy population sizes. This also means that predators should be allowed to maintain healthy populations and that they should be allowed to fulfil their ecological roles, and not keeping predator populations at minimum numbers. As to how we can get Fish and Wildlife Agencies to change their focus from game management to ecosystem-based wildlife management I do not yet know, but it needs to be done ASAP! We also need to get them to lessen their dependence on hunting and trapping licenses for revenue; this may actually help shift the focus from game management to ecosystem-based wildlife management. Only when ecosystem-based wildlife management replaces game management will the slaughter of predators end; as long as game management exists, predators will continue to be exterminated. When I become a wildlife biologist, this will definitely be one of my focuses.
