To all my faithful readers, I know this a dark time but things WILL turn around for the wolves. I will do everything in my power to make that happen!!
I’ll be off and on the next few weeks, mainly updating hunt numbers and approving comments but not posting much during the holidays. You can use this time to read older blog posts, which chronicle the tragic delisting and slaughter of gray wolves in the Northern Rockies and now Great Lakes.
We hope to unveil our new project in January or February!!
Keep the wolves in your thoughts, the haters are having their way now but it will be short-lived. Keep believing and never, ever give up!

If we join together we can protect the wolves. We must never give up hope. Wolves are our Spirit Brothers and Sisters and may they all have blessed Holiday.

My wish for the wolves is that wiser and more compassionate decision makers heed the eloquent and powerful words of Bradley Trevor Grieve: “For endangered species we are both their greatest enemy and their only hope. These wonderful creatures will not argue their case. They will not put up a fight. They will not beg for reprieve. They will not say goodbye. They will not cry out. They will just vanish. And after they are gone, there will be silence. And there will be stillness. And there will be empty places. And nothing you can say will change this. Nothing you can do will bring them back.”
The wolves need to be relisted and protected, or we could face that terrible silence and emptiness that Mr. Grieve warns us of and that we will not be able to change.

This Solstice feels particularly dark. I am haunted by the slaughter of sentient beings. The picture to the right is a perfect metaphor for the times – the reptilian brain reveling in it’s own drunk entitlement. America has become a killing nation, not only for my sacred wolves.

I agree. The darkness shows no signs of lifting. The wolves are killed, the wild horses are killed, the bison are killed. That doesn’t begin to count all the domestic animals we abuse and kill and the countless trucks on their way to the slaughterhouses. No one is really safe as long as the hatred and weapons are available.

There should be NO borders when it comes to nonhuman animal rights. We cannot be moved only by the murder of silvan beings which although horrific, is miniscule compared to the murder of beings killed for their flesh,eggs, milk and skin.
It still amazes me that some still have this moral cognitive dissonance that allows people to view the wolf pogroms as wrong yet continue to partake of the everyday holocaust inherent in flesh based agriculture. Especially during the “holy days” when the words peace and love are bandied about freely. Yet are celebrated with corpses(yes corpses, not carcasses) on the table, milk meant for calves who never got to live, and eggs from abused beings.

I absolutely couldn’t agree more! The moral inconsistency is striking, and I have to wonder why it isn’t evident to everyone fighting for one group of beings while ignoring the suffering and deaths of others. I guess people get so accustomed to accepting the killing of farm animals and the hunting of most wild animals that they just don’t see it. As farmed animal advocates ask in billboards featuring a pig and a dog “Why love one and eat the other.” As we fight for the lives of wolves, we can ask ourselves “What about the others?”

I will not forget the wolves during this holiday season, and they will remain in my thoughts every single day (as they have since Congress forced the illegal delisting of the Rocky Mountain Gray Wolf back in April of 2011).
Happy holidays, and a happy new year! May 2013 finally be the year where humans learn to live in peace with wolves and other wildlife!
