    I saw this the other night on a local channel here in Michigan! It was awesome … If I’m right, he followed this pack for over a year, tracking the pups … the hunting techniques that wolves use to get food … It was truly a beautiful tribute to wolves and their true forms …

    It was beautiful – and thet.tiw wolves don’t always make a kill. Nature knows best and provides the perfect balance. Our feeble attempts at animal population management are unnatural.

    I especially loved the last few scenes, where the male buffalo passed on naturally from old age, and the wolves seemed to have a sixth sense about it. The buffalo provided food for the entire pack and for other animals.

    And that terrible-looking Canadian tar sands project!

    We saw it last week on our local PBS and it was a remarkable piece of work .. So great to see the wolves in action and I love them even more than before. .. Amazing self sustaining beings .. We commented that he should have mentioned how endangered they are and being slaughtered in the US … The media needs to know .. I suggest people write their comment line thank them for the show and would like to know more about the wolf and the violent policies that are killing them.. In the usa and issues surrounding the tar sands and the keystone pipeline …Another show needs to be aired and issues discussed.

      Rebecca…I enjoyed this show so much. The alpha male was an amazing animal. The way he flew past the first herd of buffalo and chased down an old bull who was ready to die. He know there was something wrong with that bull. That is how predators keep ungulate herds sound and healthy. Seeing the wolves run free without humans around was such a great experience. Too bad that oil shale plant is so close. I hope they don’t start chipping away at Wood Buffalo National Park, taking away acreage for oil shale. But for now the wolves and buffalo and all the other wildlife have 11 million acres of pristine wilderness to roam on.

    they also hunted bison.The Utes used every part of the bison.
    They ate the meat, they used the fur and what I find most interesting
    is they used the bladder of the bison to carry water. They also used the sinu,(spelling?) which is very near the bone, to sew clothes. Nothing went to waste. Just like the wolves. Is there something to be learned here?
    I live in the Colorado Rockies and when we go camping we drive through the southern end of South Park. There is a herd of bison that live there. My heart aches when I look at the fence keeping them closed in.
    The bison used to be called “Thunder Beast” they were given that name because there were so many of them that when they ran on the wide open spaces they sounded like thunder.
    The video was so bitter sweet for I don’t want anyone to die. But that is the way of our world,

      Great comment Christy. The Native Americans relied on the buffalo for everything and that’s why the US government wanted them exterminated to break the Indians spirit and their way of life. It’s so tragic. Not only that but the buffalo in Yellowstone can be killed and hazed if they leave the park for their Spring grazing grounds. The Montana Cattlemens Assoc brings up the Brucellosis scare every year, even though elk carry Brucellosis and mingle with cows all the time. Visit the Buffalo Field Campaign to learn more about the war against Yellowstone’s buffalo. They’ve killed over 7000 Yellowstone buffalo since 1985.

It isn’t for the protection of the elk so that there will be enough left for the hunters to kill. It is just violence. If they weren’t killing wolves, they would be visiting more shopping malls, school, theaters and god knows what to shoot people.! I love you all. You are my pack. Thank you Nabeki for that and all the other priceless information that makes my wild spirit surge.

      Nancy…you’re welcome, knowledge is power and the more we expose what’s happening to wolves and get this information out to the general public, the faster we can get wolves relisted. The USFWS is sitting there watching this insanity in the wolf states and not lifting one finger. They can see that wolves in Yellowstone have been cut off and if they step one toe out of the park they can be shot. The USFWS knows wolves are not a problem and this is all Kabuki theater.

      We are making progress, we can’t give up.
