Wolf “management” reminds me of Ground Hog Day, rinse and repeat. We’re outraged, they pretend to listen but in the end wolves pay the price. The only people fish and game agencies seem to pay attention to are their customers, hunters and ranchers, the rest of us be damned.

The ability to comment on proposed state and federal government regulations is an important right for all Americans. Since we live in a republic, not a direct democracy, public comment helps our representatives make informed decisions on our behalf.
No one expects public comment to be the equivalent of voting. But even so, public comment should not be ignored. After all, if our representatives just did what they pleased, they could hardly be considered representatives. This is especially true when government officials are appointed, not elected.
But if public comment isn’t voting, is there some percentage where public officials are morally obligated to put aside their preformed opinions and abide by the wishes of their constituents? If 60 percent is a supermajority, certainly 70 percent is a mandate, and ignoring anything over that percentage…

There is something so rotten and corrupt in this agency and has been for such a long time. Jay Mahonee was studying the Fishtrap pack and they knew it. And without even a by your leave they murdered the whole pack and didn’t even inform him. They are rotten, out for vengence, self important egomaniacs. No one can have any trust in the agency at all, not with the current group of criminals. Corrupt to the core. Hunters, trappers and wildlife murderers. Not just corrupt but inherently destroyers of nature and proud of it. YOu know the kind.

Exactly. Even in a republic, though, as mentioned in the article, representatives theoretically are supposed to listen to constituents. The wolf hunting, as well as other wildlife slaughter, reveals that big interests rule–ranchers, hunters, trappers, and their organizations and money buy the legislatures. The war on wildlife is one of the most blantant and corrupt abuses of power that we have seen in our country. Unfortunately, the hunting and ranching cultures are so engrained and so protected that we’re obviously not making a dent in their determination to kill.

We all knew when the Wolves were taken off the Endangered Species List on that slimy rider that it was going to bring trouble because politicians were being puppet-ed by Rancher and Hunter money but to see the low road the authorities that are SUPPOSE to be listening to the people and Suppose to be a protection agency for the wildlife has disgusted me to the core. They continue to be the Devils Advocate by destroying the balance of Nature – our beloved Wolves, ignoring the truth and ignoring the large percentage of people that are against the tactics Mt FWP continue to develop to eliminate wolves.

Nancy that’s one of the biggest reasons I’ve shifted the focus of this blog because I believe the wolf states want to engage us on every little gory detail to distract us from the big picture. We’ve now been reduced to celebrating victories when bad legislation is stopped…when just a few short years ago all focus was on seeing wolves relisted, on worrying about genetic connectivity of the three sub populations in the NRM. Now we’re doing laps when we stop a longer wolf hunt. These people are clever and they know that if we get stuck in the minutia we will never be able to see the forest for the trees. There is only one goal in my mind and that is to see wolves relisted, period.

So will anybody pay for this travesty or is it another rock for all of us to swallow. I’m so tired of swallowing rocks and mourning for the tortured and the murdered. This isn’t working folks. We’re just getting ignored and bullshitted and having our wildlife taken from us at every turn. What happens now? Somebody needs to start another long, expensive unsatisfying lawsuit. It is so frustrating.

That’s exactly what I alluded to in the previous post Nancy. It’s divide and conquer, we have to stop focusing on every little detail, I’ve done that for almost four years but it’s time to change tactics. We have to move out of the box of signing petitions, calling Congress, complain to fish and game agencies, rinse and repeat…it’s not working. We need media coverage, we need a fresh perspective and we need more real life action. We can talk a big game but actions speak louder than words, as the saying goes.

Great comment. I’m with you because for me it is the next step in our own extinction. Man destroys everything and himself too. With each passing day I am starting to hate mankind and ashamed to call myself human. I wish I could go and live with the wolves to be there protector. The way things are going that may be the only answer. It may actually take people to go and live with the wolves to keep evil men away from them. Just like they are doing with the Rhino’s in Africa to save them from extinction. I’m sure there are people that would be willing to do this if it was brought to there attention like Paul Watson is doing with the whales and dolphins. Just a thought.

In Virunga National Park in the Congo the people do exactly that, they live with the guerillas to protect them…it is the only way they are not killed by the crazies…Can we start a sign up sheet that people began to live near various packs so we can call out and warn the wolves of the hunters and protect them? that would certainly garner media attention that our wildlife never ever gets!…Some of the rangers in Virunga are killed, but we will all die anyway, and with all the craziness accelerating in the world. I am willing to do this ..If a wildlife biologist will train us, I would help our brothers and sisters, when they are murdered I am too.

I agree, though we would probably all be shot for interfering with the hunt. Funny, how even protesting quietly for animals is being called terrorism, yet harassing women going into abortion clinics is deemed God’s work.

What I found puzzling the other day I was out and about talking to people about the importance of Wolves and other Predators as will as the inhumane cruelty, and one of the people I was talking to said you all do know a lot of the ranchers are the fish and game that is how they are getting away with it and mention names,, yes I knew the names and know they do not have and lack the education to even be in these jobs in the first place, no wonder they have been taking their side it is them ! This man I talked to agreed he said they had no business getting rid of the real wildlife people that were trying to help and sneaking their friends into those jobs he said once salazar had his rancher friends in the war on predators began which was a setup for us which I already knew that part, can’t we step in and have them removed and the right ones in

Joan….you hit the nail on the head. Once Salazar was in, wolf haters had a pipeline to the Interior.
They have the state legislatures stacked with anti wolf, anti wildlife zealots, who haven’t met a a wolf persecution bill they didn’t like. You can see it’s just a handful of people who are making policy but since they hold positions of power it goes on and on. The sad part of this saga is it was the Democrats who could have stopped this but it was one of their own, Jon Tester, who really drove a nail into the wolves’ coffin, all to get re-elected and every single Democrat in the Senate except three, backed him on it. So both parties will stoop to nasty tactics when it serves their purpose. Now Tester is running around talking about how horrible it is that the Monsanto rider was inserted into an appropriations bill to get it passed when he did the same thing to wolves in the Spring of 2011 with the blessing of Harry Reid and Obama.

Nikki…The Governor appoints the commissioners…so he runs that show. Do you think for one minute he will appoint anyone who is even slightly pro-wolf? I think we both know the answer. Dealing with the states one to one will never work. We must work to relist. That’s all I’m interested in. They’ve already shot themselves in the foot in Wyoming…having to reduce the trophy hunt quota since they’re already running out of wolves.

i have a cabin in montana, i pay taxes, the national forests belong to all of us as does yellowstone. i wish my voice to be heard, stop killing wolves, stop listing to the jack pine savages in montana. let us know if you don’t need us outsiders money to keep your state going. montana can be a state of poverty with a view.

Since corporations are financing legislation in unprecedented amounts, it’s necessary to include direct confrontation to CEO’s and members of Boards of Directors. These powerful agents typically remain invisible and are not held accountable for the harm from which they profit.
Non-profits that are fronts for corporations or corporate agendas should also be included with actions directed to specific CEO’s, as well as, the officials and board of directors. Calling a front line, minimum wage employee is a waste of time. Call-in campaigns don’t really get to the officials and that’s why the frontliner was hired.
Demonstrating at corporate offices and affiliates has been useful in stopping XL pipeline. Other activist tactics can be studied on the Interoccupy site. Consider reading “Beautiful Trouble”.
In my opinion, petitions to public officials are only useful because when a representative votes against public input his status as ‘ paid lobbyist’ is clarified in the congressional voting records. These are available online. In this way, the rep ‘outs’ themselves. You can then research their employment history and often as not they may be on sebattical from a corporation.
We can be assured many public officials at various levels are getting paybacks from certain anti-wolf industries. Their allegiance to private compensation needs to be exposed.

Each day I become more and more convinced that these Fish and Game Commissions exist only for the purpose of hunting and trapping. The public has spoken: no wolf trapping! Yet they didn’t listen cause the hunters and trappers want wolf trapping. It’s corruption, to say the least, and not proper ecosystem-based wildlife management.

So….the packs of ruthless animals have got permission from the government to hunt down wolves. The problem isn’t just with wolves either.Its stupid politics that let bone heads all around the world slowly corrupt the natural balance.
