Its time to wake up. The proposal to delist wolves is absolutely irresponsible. The fact that any government ignores the figures set out proving that these animals are on the brink is reprehensible. Step up and be the change. People are slowly but surely depriving our planet of important players in a healthy ecosystem.

I made my say on the regulations.gov link – a rather lengthy comment quoting Dept. of Agriculture statistics on cattle deaths, citing the persona which guides these hostile states and the inability, in general of elected officials, to heed their constituents.
However, I fear that the enormous outcry and the embarrassment of USFWS officials in the wake of the poor science (if you can call it science) they used in the 2012, Chambers, et al, paper may just intimidate them into seeking revenge against US citizens crying for sound science and a bit of humanity to rule the day.
As a scientist myself, seeing how our country has regressed in the last 25 years with regards to supporting rigorous science training and utilizing plain, common, good judgment in public affairs, I have lost complete faith that anything that Jewell and Ashe decide will be the better for these wolves and the recovery of our national ecosystem.
As an example of why I feel this way, one is the surreptitious and unsound delisting process itself. Oh and my favorite; ‘Butch Otter’ and friends (Idaho’s state house) redirecting $400,000 of Idaho’s budget to kill 500 of its 600+ remaining wolves.

It’s a tragedy that these wonderful creatures are a victim of the money interest ranchers and politicians out for a few more votes but that’s what America and our vanishing wildlife is all about.I won’t be giving Obama any more money as a result of the killings and the Wildlife Service.When I fought in Vietnam I thought I was protecting America but I was only defending the money interests it seems.How the Democrats think they’ll have a coalition of environmental friends after these actions is beyond me.It makes me ill thinking about the killings of these animals who have every right to exist here but out friends who declare themselves followers of Christ would deny that right.What a shame and disgrace.

Since President Obama removed the gray wolf from the endangered species list in April 2011 and turned management of these majestic animals over to state wildlife agencies, thousands of wolves have been senselessly slaughtered by sport hunters and trappers alone in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, Alaska. This is where our problem lies. Obama and his cronies. Appears that our only hope is Sally Jewell. If she has the grit and good conscience to stand up to the blood thirsty, money mongering Obama machine…the wolf might have a chance. This doesn’t mean the fight would be over…but it would be a big step in the right direction.

Wolves should not be taken off the protection of the Endangered Species list and those that were removed should be put back on. It was a terrible mistake to remove those. The states that are in a killing frenzy must be stopped! What happened to our country’s morals? The greed is “killing” all of us & this home we call earth!

I cannot believe that Miller/Coors has allowed their good name to be smeared across the United States by the hunt allowed in Michigan,the picture of Miller Beer promoting the killing of animals in“Just a few weeks ago the “Call of the Wild” Predator Round Up was held near our cabin in Luzerne Michigan. The hunt began at 7:00 p.m. Friday night and ran till 12 noon Sunday. Seventy three (73) hunters signed up comprising 33 different teams. Several teams used coyote dogs and others worked various “sets” while calling. The hunters with the dogs had the advantage, but the first “yote” turned in was by a father and son team who called the 29.7 pound female within range of a flat shooting 223? …..
“Ma Deeters (local bar/restaurant) was the starting point of the hunt, and the Best Hardware store was where the successful hunters displayed their success. There were around $1700.00 dollars in prizes with anyone bringing in a tagged coyote receiving a $1000.00 dollar bonus. Knight and Hale (game calls) donated many of the prizes handed out. First coyote, biggest, (41 pounds) ugliest, and longest awards were all given out at the culmination of the hunt. Two of the dog teams garnered most of the awards.
On Sunday afternoon there were eleven (11) coyote and one fox hanging on the game pole at the hardware store. There was an additional prize to any team that brought in the “trifecta” of predator hunting (a coyote, fox, and bobcat.) No one collected that award this year, but one team came close.”

Good for you rajaju that you took the time to call them out for this. I think it was a very weak response on their part, as in too little too late. The damage had already been done. BUT they did answer you so maybe they’re getting the idea that not only do idiots who participate in predator derbies drink their beer but people who care about this earth and it’s wildlife, also drink beer. In fact the “regular folks” are the majority beer drinkers in this country and not the other way around.

we can not allow the wellbeing of these incredible beings to fall to the interest of a relative handful of lying, self serving, penile challenged rednecks, with an unquenched thrill in killing… we, the collective populace of this country are not so disrespectful of other life forms, and given a national referendum, which should be undertaken immediately, we could bring their slaughter to a permanent end…
