Oregon Wolf Pup Calls To It’s Pack….

August 8, 2014

I love posting this video,  I do it almost every year.

Is there a more haunting, ethereal sound in nature than the howl of the wolf?  This sweet pup calls to its pack and they howl back!!

    • Thanks again Allan, we’ve had many experience with wolves howling, they would howl to my dogs and the dogs would howl back but their howls have been silenced in Montana, Idaho and most of Wyoming, since the wolf hunts commenced. It’s been years since I’ve heard wolf song in the wild, so listening to the sweet pup is music to my ears.

    • Sorry markgil but wasn’t sure of the pup’s sex so had to do a little improvising. I certainly do not think of wolves as it’s.

  5. Thank you Nabeki. Thank you Biodiversity. Truly one of the most beautiful sounds on this planet. Years ago, if I couldn’t sleep, I’d put my headphones on and listen to a record narrated by Robert Redford. It was many different wolf calls. They would lull me to sleep.

  9. Thank you so very deeply. To hear wolves howl has been a lifeline dream, steeped into my childhood. I was reared by a highly intelligent father, who told me stories of wolves — inverse to the wolf killers.

He told me of wolves rescuing children lost in forests, of children escaping into the woods to escape the atrocities of WW1, and wolves protecting them, sheltering them, taking care of them. My father loved wolves. His dream of wolves was never fulfilled, but I’m saving this beautiful, haunting recording.

My lifeline dream was not fulfilled as I’ve never heard the call of the wild while being in paradise.

To my father, to Leopold, to all of you. We must save and protect this vital, apex predator as the wolf, alone, is the champion of Earth, all life and mankind.

  10. Watching this makes me wonder why the pup is here while the pack is elsewhere!

Beautiful video. How misunderstood – or is man simply too wrapped up in believing the convenient – these beautiful animals are. If wishes could come true, I know we would make a better planet and consider all species in their just light. In today’s world the battle for those who cannot speak for themselves often ends tragically.

I ask my God to stand up for the beauty of this world that we as a species have neglected and abused for our own gain.
