Ricky Gervais is having none of trophy hunters BS they like to throw around, to defend their indefensible behavior and blood lust by killing innocent animals for sport.
Keep it up Ricky, you have their number and the courage and platform to call them out. Trophy hunting is not a sport, its animal cruelty and should be banned worldwide.

Comedian has been embroiled in a debate over hunting
Francis had accused Gervais of targeting her specifically because she was female after the comedian posted a picture of her lying next to the corpse of a giraffe she had just killed with the caption: “What must’ve happened to you in your life to make you want to kill a beautiful animal and then lie next to it smiling?”
Francis was subsequently bombarded with furious messages and death threats on social media accounts belonging to her. A few days later, she responded in a defiant statement vowing to never apologise for hunting, where she claimed Gervais “used his power and influence to specifically target women in the hunting industry and has sparked thousands of people to call for my death, the death of my family and many other women who hunt”.

The mother-of-eight from the US insisted hunters contribute “the most” to the welfare of wildlife by helping create a natural balance.
Gervais later denied her claims of sexism, insisting in a tweet: “men and women that do it [trophy hunt] are equally vile and worthless”.
He has continued the debate over hunting on his social media accounts, where he today said he was “sick” of Trophy Hunters “trying to excuse their grim sport by saying they provide a service”.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Gervais wrote: “They exploit the needs of the poor. They pay lots of money to go and shoot a magnificent animal because the authorities need the cash, and then claim they are doing a good deed. It’s not a good deed.

It is wonderful that Mr. Gervais is supporting Howling for Justice. Perhaps these murderers could take up clay pigeon shooting, you need skill but you don’t harm any living thing.
Please also support the elephants, rhinos, tigers, badgers etc.
These murderers forget that all life have similar organs to humans, they feel pain as humans do too.
Wouldn’t it be nice if these murderers could be caught and used as Guinea pigs for drug trials instead if innocent animals!

Thank you Ricky – I wish more star people would get involved in the animal cruelty in this world. You have done a great job. It is hard to understand that people can make a legal kill by Trophy Hunting by paying the big price to Thrill Killing. It is wrong and needs to be stopped. Whether by land or sea, these are endangered species and should not have a price on them to make it legal to kill them. There should be fines and jail time instead. I love all animals and they need protection from man/woman around the world.

I’ve been a fan of Mr. Gervais for quite some time now. So yet another furry star for him.
As to these family loving sadists, a recommendation………..try including all of creation in your limited view of what has value. That Hallmark greeting card view of life is pathetically small and less than endearing.

Good for him. A lot of people pay attention to celebrities and their speaking out against hunting will help. For too long, killing animals for any reason, including “sport” or “entertainment” has been accepted. We need to see hunting for the ugly destruction of living beings that it is.

God Bless Ricky Gervais. These people will listen to a celebrity first. It makes me cry to look at the picture of a murdered animal. I can’t understand what makes these people want to kill a beautiful giraffe, an elephant or any other wild animal, when all animals are becoming extinct. Thank you Ricky, for fighting back.

Thank you so much for echoing the truth over and over. Never stop. It seems that folks who call them out are the only conscience of these people. They stand on, lie beside, hold up with grinning faces,m the innocent animals simply trying to survive and live as they are supposed to. Hopefully if enough people call them who they really are, we can make a huge difference and awaken a new attitude with responsibility to preserving the earth we live on and all its blessed creatures as we are intended to do as stewards of our beloved planet.

It’s such a tiresome excuse – if they want to help poor people with their vast sums of money, why not just donate money, open up a school or hospital, create a wildlife sanctuary so that endangered rhinos and elephants won’t go extinct for ivory? Not take perverse pleasure in inflicting pain and suffering on another sentient being to death – and then giving the dead body away.
I hope Francis stays the hell out of Canada!

Sadly there is to be a cull of wolves in British Columbia. I lived in Canada for many years and always felt that the Canadians had more respect for their wildlife … obviously I was wrong.

That’s why I mentioned it – she’s organizing a women’s hunting trip for endangered woodland caribou. Each woman is allowed 2 caribou each! And to accommodate people like her, wolves have to be culled. So hunters kill more than just the poor unfortunate animal that lands in their sights. Some people have said she’s only going after ‘non-endangered’ caribou, but I don’t know which ones those are? Every animal on the planet is endangered today.

ballajora, The killing has stopped for now apparently but the BC government still plans to kill wolves to “save caribou” for five years. We did a post on this on Wolf Warriors. They’re blaming the wolves for caribou decline when in fact it’s habitat loss that’s pushed these caribous numbers down. To save face the government is blaming the wolves and going after them. Wolves are always such convenient scapegoats.

Hunting, for whatever reason, not only causes death, but many animals are injured, and crawl away silently to bleed to death: that is why hunting magazines talk about “the blood trail, and how to follow it.” Whether some want to call it “ethical hunting” or not, non-human societies are stressed, family units disrupted, habitat destroyed/spoiled, all for some human serial killers to get their hunting kicks.
Whether it was a “great tradition long ago,” who cares? Evidence now shows that early Homo was much more of a gatherer, than a hunter. Regardless, does this terribly environmentally -destructive, arrogant human activity have any place in today’s world?
Most of the planet is now suffering from too many humans, doing too many destructive things, including the systematic destruction of the Biosphere—with rampant decline of non-humans and wild habitat. Species decline everywhere is a human-caused catastrophe. If hunters want to hunt, let them hunt each other–that would be far more honorable.

God Bless you Ricky Gervais! A “sporting event” is when all parties agree. Last I heard was silence from these poor animals. What is the matter with these people? Sport hunting is not ‘sport’…..it’s murder. What makes it even worse is these animals don’t have guns, helicopters, traps, snowmobiles…nor the desire to fight back! They’re not the murderers.

Revenge , an interesting concept. Perhaps you have failed to catch on to the Muslim idea that Spain belongs to “them”, still slavering for revenge after over 500 years, when they themselves used violent methods to acquire it only 800 or so years before that.
THIS, today, is where your ideal of revenge will get the earth in a thousand years:
NOWHERE.
Statistics tell us that guns are quite successful in effective suicide. I recommend this to one and all users and desirers of guns.
Otherwise, sooner or later, the wolf lovers or their shildren retaining guns in their hands, will decide that it might be expedient and easy to use that gun.
I lived with a wolf, made him free as he could be (even to the extent of pretending it was accident when he chose to explore whatever grocery store I entered, apologising insincerely to “property owners” when he chose to inspect stimuli in HIS world – EQUALLY HIS with any of yours), and because he was tragically forced to live in a world controlled and “managed” by humans (consider that management may not be different than slavery of other life), and because his kind ACTUALLY bonds for life, unlike a certain deceptive chimpanzee, was the only being worthy of love I have ever met.
Certainly female chimps with crazed revenge and see below ignorantly enforcing twisted unkind and unethical social norms, are not themselves worthy of life any more than those whom they would aim or have others aim, guns at.

Normative pressure is the phrase used for what some call morality.
While normative pressure can be misused to continue culturally reprehensible behaviour (sport hunting might accurately be analysed to compare with the triumph of a society such as Nazi Germany, in which it was useful and perhaps enjoyable to persecute certain cultures and forms of sexuality rather common in nature),
much of adult and adolescent human behaviour is or was involved in creating normative pressure.
It seems to me that you are in a normative battle with sport hunters.
(I happen to reject so many values of the present culture that I omit myself except as favoring a radically different cultural norm).
You perhaps accept guns, for instance, for behaviours you might accept – lethally threatening others, lethally disputing and responding at a distance.
Yet, even subsistence hunting was extremely successful for hundreds of thousands of years by our species, WITHOUT guns.
Meanwhile, many wolf advocates have forgotten that NO hunting lobbies had anything whatsoever to say, when wolves had been near-absent, on the Endangered Species List, in the contiguous 48 states.
Warped norms persisted, however, in Alaska, at that time, where everything in sight was being shot, as in much of Canada.
Guns are such an easy tool to use, that it is no problem for some tropical omnivore to claim itself as a “predator” because it had guns. Before this, the california grizzly bear , also an omnivore, but one naturally equipped for its role, would stroll into a village and take the protein it needed, from time to time, unless the primates were sufficiently alert to gang up on it, as is natural in other social species, including songbirds.
Now, you read of “hunters” having “rights” with guns, as if these aberrations had any right to exist, warping a fearful little chimpanzee relative into believing that it has any such right.
So, following this mild view of my more accurate position on the subject, I suggest that you increase your normative pressure, not merely through “petitions” which literally means “beggings”, into a more certain pressure.
Whether you act legally or illegally to remove guns, understand that any law that supports gun existence and ownership is twice a social norm, changeable as the weather. If you really want to change these disgustingly warped females pictured, you will use all forms of normative pressure.
What is “legal” can be changed only with your determined normative pressure.
Anything you do to remove a single gun from earth will advance a norm more aligned with nature, which has been consistently scientifically observed to consist in social species of 17 to 19 out of 20 interactions, to be affiliative, rather than antagonistic.
And even in the other 1 to 3, the agonistic behaviours are merely normative, rather than lethal or injurious.
This is closer to our original and other species’ norms.

URGENT NEWS: Congress just introduced a bill that would exempt Endangered Species Act protections from any species that resides in only a single state! The Red Wolf, among many other species, would be doomed if this bill is passed into law! We must stop it!

There is a defense hunters like to use “If you don’t like it, don’t watch it”. What hunting is is animal cruelty plain and simple, no matter which way you slice it – it causes suffering for the enjoyment of someone; would you simply turn away from a dog or cat being beaten or abused? Would the act of simply ignoring the act make it go away?
Another insult to logic is the line of some hunters pointing at the acts of others and claiming that ‘this is not hunting’. As if there were any difference between someone who claims to give a rat’s left ear about animal welfare (while killing them) and those who don’t, what’s the end result? An animal (or several animals) dies because someone got bored or had some pathetic notion of “primal roots” or some bs line of playing the role of nature’s moderator.
