For our comments to be most effective, they should present reasons that show delisting is not a scientifically sound idea. A comment that simply says, “Don’t delist the grizzly!” may be heartfelt, but it will not carry much weight with the FWS. A comment that challenges specific FWS reasons for delisting will be more effective.
Below you will find nine claims that FWS has made to support delisting. After each claim, you will find a short explanation from a scientist or conservation agency on why the claim is not valid.
I have collected this information and posted it here so that you can use it to make your comment effective. Pick one or two or all nine of these reasons and craft a comment using your own words. Your comment doesn’t have to be a work of art, it just needs to address the flawed science behind the delisting.

How absolutely disgusting that you would even contemplate delisting these beautiful animals, who have as much right to be where they are as we humans do. How would you like it if I just decided to round up a team to kill you lot of sub humans because you are taking up too much space. Not nice hey, considering these animals are innocent, voiceless and defenceless and like wolves and so many other animals, need the protection and care of kind, loving and compassionate humans, not ruthless, barbaric, ill bred, revolting human scum. Come now, show that you are not part of the sub human race and HELP THEM INSTEAD OF ALLOWING THEM TO BE SO CRUELLY HUNTED.

These are phenomenally ACCURATE points!! All animals share emotions such as love and grief…. Among others!! Just like human beings!! When will people start to RESPECT ANIMALS AND THEIR RIGHT TO LIVE?? Like one other person said’ gone hunting’ signs really mean: ‘I find value and fun in killing for sport’!! This has got to end!!

Totally incredible, but believable. This administration is trying to do everything to destroy this country and it’s history by any and all means possible. They don’t have a lick of common sense, nor a care for anything living unless it’s creates money in their pockets. I think they’d sell their mothers for a vote. Is this really what they want to be remembered for; destroying any and as many lives as possible, degrading America, stomping out our values, and most of all..wiping out anything that makes this country great…whether it’s the two-legged mammal or the four-legged mammal? Shame on you Obama. Shame on this administration!

I moved to New Mexico from New Jersey five years ago, primarily to be closer to the magnificant landscapes and wildlife that are associated with the Southwest. I am disgusted by the actions of our government that both aggressively and often secretively chip away at the Endangered Species Act. Wildlife belongs to all of us, not just those with self-serving interests and those who profit from these groups.
That the nerve, arrogance and lack of educaton of those who are interested only in the number of animals that they can slaughter are coddled by those who should be helping to protect all that makes our country unique is beyond comprehension. It is inumane.
And now, stripping grizzlies of ESA protection??? Really?? Anyone who takes the time to reseach these issues knows that their numbers are not only exactly known but are nowhere near what they once were and are not recovered across their historic range.
Grizzly bears have one of the lowest reproductive rates of any large mammal as mothers keep their cubs with them for up to three years. Thus, grizzly bear hunts could quickly decimate their population. Turning the “managment” of any species over to Idaho, Wyoming and Montana, who deserve their own special ring in Dante’s Inferno, is a death sentence for these icons of our country.
Let us all continue to speak up, educate and advocate for those who have no voice.

I predict that the same thing that happened with wolves will happen with grizzlies – hunters will collect a few grizzly heads while the delisting/hunting is being challenged. That truly is all these base minds care about. I really cannot believe the President allowed it with wolves, or that Sally Jewell was recently attended a function where they were celebrated as ‘conservationists’. November can’t get here too soon.

Human beings are destroying habit for all wildlife!! It’s the HUMAN population that needs to LEARN TO LIVE WITH NATURE- killing animals is NOT THE ANSWER!!
What happens to the baby grizzly cub (that depends on its mother for 3yrs) after its mother gets killed?
The current grizzly population is used to humans!! The Grizzlies have LEARNED TO LIVE WITH US!!! Why are we killing them when they’ve adjusted??

I urge you to take action to protect the grizzly bears. They have one of the lowest reproductive rates of any large mammal. That’s because grizzly mothers keep their cubs with them for up to three years. It takes a long time to learn how to be a successful grizzly bear. This means any grizzly bear hunts could quickly decimate their population and place young ones at risk. Hunters want trophy animals to kill and do not cull out the weak, sick and old, which further places these animals at risk for future.
