“I am a conservationist and that is my business, getting in trouble. I’m here to say things people do not want to hear and to do things people do not want to see. I’m here to piss people off. That is my job.”….Paul Watson

What Paul is saying doesn’t just apply to the oceans, it translates to the war being waged on land against our apex predators, like the wolf and other wildlife.  Whale Wars is not any different from Wolf Wars or Grizzly Wars or Nature Wars.  It’s a culture clash between one group of people who value the importance of intact ecosystems and living in harmony with nature and those who feel they hold dominion over the earth and are free to do with it as they will, without thought or  consequence.

  1. We (here) were previously discussing how we wish we could create a land version of the Sea Shepherd. We so appreciate their devotion, creativity, and intention. And here you have presented this important article. Thank you.
How do we create distraction, interruption, confusion for those acts of terror on the innocent…until lasting protection is gained for them? How do we get trophy hunting outlawed (like other cultural barbarities…Barcelona has ended bull-fighting..trophy hunting in our country should follow!)
How do we gain global media attention to voice our outrage, expose corrupt outdated systems, instigate compassionate reform?

Perhaps we should all run naked with the wolves! Distract, confuse, gain media attention…

  2. It’s a hard one and one that I have been mulling over today as we are considering whether to support a hunt sab thing where the hunting brigade will parade on horseback in the town square and be served with drinks by the mayoress while we look on, hand out leaflets and stand peacefully in protest. The group leader is a Buddhist and doesn’t want any shouting or disruption. At the same time, we all feel very strongly and emotions are high on this sort of thing. The question is this – do we attend or not? And with this sort of thing which is animal rights, how can we move things forward?
