VETPAW is a not-for-profit organization that employs US Veterans to help protect African wildlife from being illegally hunted and captured.

Ms. Johnson and her team of fellow Vets arrived in Tanzania on March 26th and began their work. She has already noticed a decrease in poaching activity in her team’s immediate area because their presence is known. Which is easy to understand, who would want to fight it out with a battle proven warrior like Johnson? Her team’s primary focus will…

  7. I’m not convinced that veterans of war crimes are the best people to protect endangered species.

    • Science maintains, the extinctions of the strands in the web of all life, like wolves, coyotes, rhinos and elephants, are about as safe for mankind and Earth as “thermonuclear war”. Only, wild, native species are the work force in the economy of all life on Earth. We are desperate to stop these poachers as scientifically, they are killing all of mankind’s lifelines for life itself, including oxygen releasing, the transpiration of the climate cooling water cycle and fresh water, the balancing of the gaseous composition of the atmosphere, the vital nitrogen cycle that passes between plants and animals and the entirety of Earth’s bio-geochemistry; bio means, “life”. Wild, native species are scientifically, biological diversity.

This veteran knows how to use a rifle; think of her as preventing a global, thermonuclear war!

    • I wouldn’t call the average U.S. soldier a war criminal. And if the true war criminals like George W Bush and Barack Obama wanted to get out in the field to stop poachers, I’d be glad to see them do something useful for once!

  13. We also have to remember that 182 rangers have been murdered by these ‘poor starving villiagers’ poachers. She’s helping them learn to defend themselves and the animals.
